Yeah, really nice and mellow. Bit of Boards of Canada vibe off it. I agree with Whiterob about losing the dialogue, too harsh for the track. I also think the horn-like sound towards the end is a bit too loud. Nice work overall.

The piano sound. Just doesn't seem to fit quite right. That's just my take on it though

Sound, might needto pitch it a bit or just redo it altogether. Thanks for the feedback

I'd probably take out that dialogue sample in the middle.

    agreed.

A bit of chilled out effort here. I'm not entirely happy with the drum programming. I might revisit it to add a bit more variation.

New remix I recently did, It's more upbeat and faster than stuff I've been doing lately. https://soundcloud.com/scoob89/hot-chip-night-day-scoob-remix

I prefer this to the original. The verse section is really good and the vocals work really well with your composition. I'm not mad about the 'night' and 'day' choris section though, just seems to take from the groove a tad. Regarding the music the only thing I'd change might be to brighten up the snare a little. It sounds like there's a lot of lower frequencies in it which makes it merge a bit too much with the kick. Good choon though :)

You've got to lose that analoge snare. Sounds terrible at the start. Oddly it works okay when the rest of the elements are in place but has no presence when heard with the kick on its own.

Now for the good stuff. Nice strong kick and dirty gritty bassline. The piano helps to soften things. In fact I'd like to hear a bit more of it in the track. The break from 1.00 to 1.30 is cool.

Don' really like the laughing sample as it is. Might be better if it was toned down in volume and made a bit more etheral with some reverb/delay.

I like everything about this tune except the drums. The beats themselves are not bad but I think they sound a bit flat or summat. Like they need an extra high end layer. Also, the cymbals are a bit washed out sounding. The guitar and vocal samples and the synths all sound deadly though

Heya. Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I might have overdone the drums in some repsects. The kick is actually three different kicks layered so maybe I have too much going on to have a cohesive, solid kick. I've always found it diffivult to get a big 'warm' kick.

    little remix did last night

Pretty groovy. Sounds well mixed. Only thing was the fill at 1.33 sounded a bit weird, like it's a bit out of sync or something.

yeah you're right.. tried to echo out a bit and drop in the beat.. didn't come off well

I really like the middle section where the beat is dropped and you have the tinkly sounds. Lovely pads playing along here and it has a very relaxed feel to it. Good slow rolling bassline throughout as well. I can't say I've warmed up anymore to the piano but hey, you can't please everyone :D

I like this, well from 1.26 onwards anyway. I think you've gone a bit overboard with the de-tuning in the first section.
It really gets going at 2.35 with nice ineteraction between the layers of sound. I love the little vocal hit (maybe it's not a vocal but it has a nice 'o' vowel feel to it)
I would say that the overall track sounds a but muddy in terms of eq. You might want to bring out some of the higher frequncies in the synths just to brighten it up a bit, but yeah, damn nice track.

There are some really great things going on here. I think the detune works well but it should really head to a crescendo before the main part kicks fully four to the floor. Unfortunately I think the drums are really letting it down - it really needs a nice full kick on it and really liberal use of high hats and shakers to give it more of a groove - it feels a bit stilted as it is and I'd echo what moredith says about bringing out some of the higher frequencies. The rest of the tune has got quality written all over it though.

I like the beginning part a lot. Good big beats and nicely programmed. I think the pads have a slight metallic feel to them which is a bit too full on at times. I think the bassline has a very quick attack and might sound a bit better if it was softened a bit. Nice sounds coming in a 2.02 so looking forward to hearing how you develop this part.

Ok, my first tune in 10 years. Got a new laptop in the summer, got back into producing again and this is the fruits of my labour! I'm pretty happy with the tune composition itself, the problem is that I only have my PC's speakers (which are quite bass-heavy) and my earphones plugged into my laptops bog standard built-in soundcard (I'm sorting this out at Christmas) so I can't tell whether the mastering is any good.

I'd really appreciate some feedback on the composition but mainly on the mix itself, whether it's lacking sparkle or missing mid-range, etc.

good job, but the kick is abit overwhelming i think, and not in the low ends but the high end rather. i dont know if you wanted that, but theres really not much going on in the low end in terms of a bassline but maybe you wanted that.

Thanks for the feedback - I definitely wanted a bass line, though it's a percussive one rather than an actual bass line. I may have overcompensated for the bass in my speakers by cutting back a little on other bass sounds.

Kick is a tad too bright alright. The percussive bassline is really lacking presence though. I can imagine what it could be like with a little bit more grit and lower end. Your main high-hat/ride could do with a bit of eq to brighten it up a bit as well.

I like the track overall but feel that it's missing a lead line. Something to really bring it all together. As it stands it kind of feels like the foundation for a really great track but is waiting for that killer hook.
