does anyone know what the view is like from section 336, as far as I know its the section closest to the hill on the hogan side?

I was on the pitch on Friday night which was great but just wondering would the seats above be looking at the back of the stage so to speak, i've just been offered the tickes?

    Thanks

    Thats called 'Having the craic'.

Tbh, I think some people in this thread occupied themselves more with compiling a critque for boards.ie then immersing themselves in a fantastic, brilliant gig.

I was in the upper Cusack too, (714 & right in the middle of the Mexican wave).

After last night I'm on the hunt for a ticket for myself & my son for Monday now, he wasn't there last night & I'd love to share the experience with him now.

Great pic....that's the one downside of being in the pit you can't fully appeciate the stage - I believe that spire puts on a great light show?

I agree with comments about certain songs loosing their magic and feelgood factor.
I was at slane and croker for the vertigo tour and slane was special for me.The lightning that they use for the intro to 'Streets' at slane really made the difference and i think thats what was lacking IMHO!

You know what, at first I was afraid my seat wouldn't be in the best position.

But I was blown away by the whole show and in the middle of a mad section of the crowd who spent the night singing, dancing, cheering - man, it was amazing.

I've more photos of the spire, I'll see if I captured anything great and post it up.

    ***edit!.

Ok, a bit lob sided (I can straighten these later) - but here's the whole spire lit up.

there is a standard two hour set at concerts?? news to me

dublin city council have a strict curfew that outdoor concerts must finish by 11pm, otherwise U2 were looking at an €80,000 fine for overrun

Was outside croke park last night, listening to concert, and heard a garda say that they are going to do a second encore tomorrow as they are willing to pay the 80,000 for one night.

btw why are the 'moderators' being smart and nasty in their comments - shouldn't someone be moderating them??? It gets really tiresome reading all the digs at people and their 'greater than thou' attitude.

I was in 336-S last night ... I agree with the poster above who said it should have been called the 180 degree tour! The band never came around in front of us and we were watching the big screen for most of show. But having said that, it WAS a great show and I enjoyed it very much, but maybe not quite as much as last time they played Croker ...

BTW, did anyone else think the Kaiser Chiefs were really good, even if the place was mostly empty? The crowd on the pitch seemed to enjoy them!

I couldn't figure out how to insert an image, so attached is a dodgy pic that gives you an idea of the view from section 336!

Yes, they were brilliant. In fact I've never seen them in concert and after last night I'll make it my business to do so in future.

I went on Fri night and I have to say the crowd was much better, the crowd that went last night looked very messy, they were getting sick and causing trouble before they even got in, the crowd was much younger n rougher on the sat night too compared to Fri night, anyone notice that?!

Yeah there were quite a few dickheads who can't hold their booze, but it didn't take from the best U2 gig I've seen since Slane.

Flawless concert, sound, set, setlist & light show the whole thing from start to end was absolutely incredible.

One of the best nights out I've had in Dublin for €50!

Ahh. I was there too! Row R, I think. It was great craic with the wave. I wonder how it looked, there didn't seem to be too many doing it :P

I have to agree with others, the sound wasn't fantastic. I have never been to croker though. The stage was so far away.

my wife is wondering if we should bring our 9 month old tomorrow night as she won't settle for babysitter and we'd be gone for 6 hours. I told her baby will just be roaring crying with the noise, but she's still worried. She wants to bring her in a sling. We have seated tickets in 704. Anyone have any suggestions or help to talk her out of it?

The first thing you need to check is will the baby be let in without a ticket. I am not being funny - I know from football matches in Croker they are very strict about that kind of thing. Then you have to think about how near you are going to get parking or looking for a taxi amid 80,000 many of them drunk people at 11.30 in town. Some babies dont mind too much noise - do ye have many house parties? And if ye do, can your baby sleep through the loud music? or is she usually sheltered from noise?
I've certainly seen small babies sleeping happily in their buggies in packed noisy pubs, late at night. It just depends on the child. It also depends on which posters you believe on here, as to how loud it actually is. I drove by Croker(drumcondra rd) last night, with the window down, at about 10.50 and couldnt hear a thing. I know I was driving but still.

Look you know your child best. Some people wrap them in cotton wool and never leave the house. Others go camping with them, bring them to football matches in the rain, to packed pubs etc. Some people wont allow you to talk while they are trying to put them to sleep - other make lots of noise to get the child used to sleeping through it.

Sorry - very long, probably unhelpful answer!!! Enjoy the concert. Do check the ticket situation though at least.

Concert last night was out of this world! Queued from about 2:30pm and got into the pit, the time went pretty quick considering and the support acts were great. Especially Kaiser Chiefs, hats off to them they really got the pit warmed up anyway! The atmosphere was out of this world up there.

Going again on Monday night to a corporate box, will be good to see the light show and what the concert is like from back further, considering last night we were in between the outer ring stage and the stage we were really up close with the action!

Never been to a U2 concert before, will definitely be going again, best concert of my life!

Is there any trouble getting near Croke park without a ticket? Is it as strict as the GAA matches? Just worried we wont be able to get near the place to buy a ticket!

Well considering the touts will be targetting those without tickets i think its a safe bet they will be outside the ticket zone so to speak :)

I was up in the Hogan Stand, upper tier last night.

I agree it was an excellent gig, U2 were superb...also, i thought the sound quality in the stadium was fantastic.

I disagree with you about the Kaiser Chiefs though, thought they were average.

Maybe they didn't seem as good up in the stands, there was great interaction with the crowd in the pit. He even went crowd surfing across the pit, and really improved the atmosphere. Sound quality was brilliant, I have to agree!
