    Taxi!
After a series of raises a player was all in with Qd.gifQh.gif against Andrew Black's Ah.gifKd.gif. As ESPN arrived at the table, Black told the cameras that he got in a taxi two years ago, and it was his opponent that picked him up. The board fell As.gif10d.gif8c.gif7c.gif2s.gif giving Black a pair of aces, eliminating his opponent. As he got up to exit the tournament area, the former cab driver quipped, "I guess I should have asked for a bigger tip when I dropped you off." Andrew Black - 225,000

I've been told that Tom Finneran got very unlucky with his opponent hitting a gutshot with all the money in to beat his set. The two Galway lads, thats Jude and Derek are both gone. I don't know if Fintan was playing today or if he is on tomorrow.

Sorry for starting yet another wsop thread. But id like to dedicate this one to the irish in vegas. Its good to hear how all are doing and keep us all updated. So please contribute if you are a boardsie in vegas or knowing of any irish left in the main event. I presume nicnicnic, digiman, suilen, hawkeye, marty, van dice and pistolpeter are still in, im not sure who else is playing. Can anyone confirm?

    Thanks.
Well theres me good self (Feargal Nealon, midnitekowby online) and Shauny Craig(haverl online), an English man in Sligo are playing day2b morrow. We're both adelaide casino regs and its are 1st M.E, both qualified on ftp.

Shauny's on 67k and im sitting on 87k, but we start morrow at lvl6, unlike today where they kicked off @5.

anyways, had a tough table day1, with david soul reader extrodinaire on my immediat left and the camel, high stakes sng player from england on right, two to my right was derek lerner(derek8 on stars) and another 5k posts on 2+2 kid was 3 to my left..

in the first lvl, oppie showed up a 1/2hr late, got a 1 and half hour massage and a 80k stack, owned us all small ballin, and at 1 point scared the lived crap outta me, when i folded my 88s on a 345 board to his chk raise and when i tried the auld you tell me i tell you trick he took off his shades, eye balled me with crazy piercing bulgin eyes and said " you don't need to tell me, you had pocket 8's"

So anyways, he had me a box and rattled, but nothin that a shapeshiftin out of his comfort zone button oversized 4bet with 89s, jam flop on j8x sidekick to the head didnt sort out..

So once i put my """precious""" tornie life on the line and stirred the pulses i was sound.

much nicer table draw morrow, 100k stax to my right, next biggest is 54k.

any spare luck, ye have lying about the place, send it my way, sure ye'll all be asleep when im at it, ye won't need it, and ill ship it back after

Lads, remember that cutting/pasting from pokernews doesn't put the images of the cards in so it is like a pointless story when they just tell you the end.

started off today pretty well quickly increased my stack for 30k to 55k in the second level that we played today, got moved to a new table to find andy black in seat 9 and me in seat 6 and was sitting on about 160k when i arrived. key hand to day was having qq on the hijack make it 2700 to go, image is tight agressive, so in the 500-1000 level and the button (rock for most of the day) ships for 24k, andy black on the bb (who had been playing pretty solid all day not getting out of line at all) snap calls on the bb, im playing about 75k at this point and decide to let it go, andy has ak and takes down another player, was pretty confident that 10s and jacks were the hands i was beating and was coin flipping and loosing to the other two hands, talked to andy afterwards and he said he would have made the same lay down, table was tight and was picking up a lot of small pots, was a good table, i know ill get some stick for laying that hand down but in the moment and that i felt it was a good laydown, had my stack up to 90k with one level to go and didnt play to well for the last hour, opened up a lot more pots and folded to a few three bets and called a three bet with a marginal hand, more frustration than anything else, so finished the day on 66k, not quite as planned but generally happy the way i played today and be all al fresh for friday now. one time dealer

Would the queens have held?? I think its a good fold considering you will put yourself in better spots to accumulate chips later in the tourney and no need to race for your tourney life just yet.. Keep her lit al and well done so far...:)

good fold with the queens, no need to play them there and I think most from here will agree

Just busted, started the day on 22k, 2nd hand I flopped top set in a 3b pot, I won about 10k there and that was the dizzy height I reached for the day. Pretty card dead for the day, so stack dwindles down to about 22k were my exit hand comes up. UTG who is a probably the worst at the table but not terrible by any means at all. He opens to 2k at 300/600/75, I flat call with AdQc in the CO, didn't really want to get it in vs him preflop so decided to shove a lot of flops as he was bet/folding quite a bit. Flop came T23 which 2 diamonds so I had 3 backdoor draws with overs, but he snapped with TT!!!

Filippi Loses Minimum with QQ vs KK vs AA
Amnon Filippi raised to 1,775, next to act raised to 4,300 before a player in late position made it 13,500 to go. The table quickly folded back to Filippi who gave a wry smirk and quickly folded.

The action was then raised to 29,000 before the late position player moved all in for an additional 50,000. Incredibly the first player folded KdKs face up and his opponent flashed AdAs.

A great fold, but Filippi was ecstatic as he claimed to have folded pocket queens and it only cost 1,775 in chips!

Dom, surely figuring out what each held is half the fun in reading updates

I've been experimenting with a mash-up of cardplayer updates and tweets (twitter) from 30 well-known players. It's very much a first attempt so it may well explode but give it a try if you like. The list updates automatically every couple of minutes (10 minutes for cardplayer because it's less frequent than twitter) so no refresh needed:-

Cardplayer have their updates in rss format which means they don't mind people reproducing the content. Pokernews don't so it's too dodgy for me to grab their updates. Feedback welcome.

Just busted, I was constantly yo-yoing my stack between 18k and 40k all day long. Final hand I 4bet shoved on a young active kid for 26k blinds 400-800 with K9hh. In hindsight its pretty bad but at the time something didnt seem right with his 3bet size and thought he'd fold a ton. Alas he didnt and snaped with JJ. Didnt play all that well for the 2 days guess theres only so many times you can run like god...
GL to the rest of the Irish left in I'll be down railing for awhile on friday.

I think thats where I went wrong, should have out done my baller ways from last year instead I came over here with the all work and no play mindset. I'm far too well behaved, I'll know for next year if I want to win the main event...
