Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

GTR Spec V and Porsche 911 GT3

A fantastic article in this month's Car Magazine. Best read without cheating, i.e. from very start to finish. The Nissan test driver managed to lap the Nordschleife in c. 7:27, beating the previous GTR record by 2 seconds. Admittedly, there were some minor tweaks (some fiddling with suspension and tyres) but it seems like a fairly genuine lap time.

Then onto new 911 GT3 (in a gorgeous blue colour). In the hands of an experienced independent driver, the GT3 laps the Nordschleife slightly faster than the GTR.

My point? I'm a Porsche fanatic but you have to take your hands off to Nissan for what is clearly an astonishing feat of engineering. And all from a car that weighs about 1700kg. Just wait until the new GT2 comes out...

I'm mad about both cars, i think i have to side with the Porsche in this war though.
I've always been mad about them, is there a time for the GT3 RS?

Think I'd go for a GTR over a Porsche, but the Porsche comes a very close second.

As somebody who firmly believes Nordschleife is the be-all and end-all, one and only test of any true performance car I have to side with Porsche here too - it's faster, period. Still, that GTR is amazing, and they did a very cool video of the lap:

It's interesting to see even the US car manufactueres trying to use this "gold standard" though, with that new CTS-V Cadillac being the fastest saloon...

That's NOT an official time, as we discussed here before:

Porsche to Nissan : you're a bloody liar
