Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

UK/Ireland Bankruptcy Question

A acquaintance of mine has managed to run up a serious debt (approximately 80,000) owed to various banks/institutions in Ireland. She has been advised that she can move to the UK and declare herself bankrupt there and this will discharge her debts in Ireland and then return to Ireland. All this for the sum of €500. I can't believe this is right. Has anyone out there got any ideas on this.

    Thanks.

Your friend needs to get in touch with MABS, and possibly also a solicitor. I've never heard anything about going to the UK to be declared bankrupt, and TBH it sounds very dodgy to me. I doubt it's true otherwise anyone with financial troubles would be going down that route. A solicitor could confirm whether or not this is true.
