They sure are.. it comes with some backend software for midi assignments.. plus you can create and save presets.. also comes with a few presets for like impulse and an mpc preset.. here is a screen of the software..

    lpd8-editor-screenshot.jpg

    oh and i love it!!

how do you find the sl? when funds permit i was thinking of picking up a new keyboard and thought may as well get some pads with it.. are the sl pads bad? im leaning towards an akai mpk49 anybody have the lpk series controller?

i love the sl, the pads aren't terrible just a bit too hard so ive never really bothered much with them

but the keys are really great and the sliders and rotaries are rock solid
and then there's automap which makes softsynth set up a doddle
and i'm definetely not one to be great on that technical side of it but i've got virtually a mouseless set up with cubase using the sl

they are pricey, i got mine before ireland fell apart
but ive never had a glitch out of it

i've no experience with the akai but it looks like you'd pick up a mk1 SL37 (the one i have) for the same price

i'm gonna go for that akai btw

Go for an S5000 as they handle wav files straight away from your computer that's if you can get one cheap. Or else pick up a S3000 series for less than 100 quid. Midi it up to a Drumkat or something similar and you're in business and can pretend your Peter Hook from Neworder playing Blue Monday doo doo doo doo tish!

Thanks a lot Waveform, yeah I still haven't finished building the Sammich :( hopefully over the holidays I can get back to it.

The mb-6582 is way cool from what I've seen, and way complicated!

Complicated to use or to build?
It can be tricky alright, i need to re-solder my wiring as a few leds aren't lighting.

I made a really rough demo of the Drum Engine yesterday.
It could be a lot better, with more variation, but it was just something thrown together quickly.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIVcENujMBQ

Only 2 sids are used there, so you could do the exact same sounds with the sammich. I can't wait to build drums that use more than one oscillator!

Awesome video, very nice sounds your getting out that. Must hurry up with my build.

I meant complicated to build, I'm a noob at electonics :)

    Im an electronics noob meself!

It was MBSID that got me into it really, you should see the state of the first midibox i made!

You'll be delighted when you're finished,
the SID has huge character, nothing else sounds like it, very dirty and gritty.

Perfect for an electro douche like yourself!

quality pedal alright, just got one a few weeks ago...

Been looking at this one too. How do you deal with lack of midi sync? Or does it matter. The Eventide timefactor looks great also.

doesn't bother me. you can tap in a "sync" for the delay by hand.
