Anyone know where I can get a good button accordian from? Preferably second hand - would like one with good 'sound'. Any ideas?

Powells Four Corners is a good bet, check the local paper for second hand sales or else maybe asking some of the local instrument repair people (one beside kings head, one on dominick street) if they have any?

Try chatting to Brian in Powell's about what they have. But for specialist instruments like this, it would be quite reasonable to travel a fair way out of Galway to find what you want: local music shops may or may not have much stock of specific things.

Alternatively, try chatting to some of the BA players you see in pubs around town, they can at least tell you where they got theirs, and who they know who sells 'em.

Martin Connolly from Ennis specialises in the sale and repair of B and C accordions, melodeons etc.
I don't have up-to-date contact details for him as its 15 years since I played and listened in the music scene in Galway/north Clare.
I just did a google on it and he is trading as kincoraaccordions.com.
As I always say.....the internet is a marvellous resource...................

Try Brendan Mulhere in Galway. He is near the Hospital, Lower Newcastle, I think. I told him what I wanted and he built it for me. Have it 2 years and still sounding great (I play left handed). Also try Sean Garvey in Dublin www.allabout accordions.com. Has a great range of new and secondhand.
Mairtin O'Connor in Galway (Roonagh Point?) sells 2 rows and two and a half rows.

Martin O'Conell is at 065 6840551. He is based in Ennis. Most box players have a hoard of boxes, a buddy of mine has 4 or 5 probably for sale as he has settled on a single row melodion
