Diving around the Skelligs

    Hi,

Myself and a few buddies have planned a dive trip around the Skelligs. Can anyone give me more information on potential dive sites, depths, and general things to look out for? We are AOWD certified or higher, and plan to dive on single air cylinders.

Also, if its too rough to get out to the Skelligs, could anyone reccomend alternative divesites which are close by?

    Thanks,

    Sean

You are spoiled for choice in that area.

Will you have your own RIB? If so, you can launch at the Glen Pier, St. Finian's Bay. Less than 30mins to Skelligs from there.

Weather conditions will dictate your choice. Assuming you have no swell, you can dive anywhere. If there is swell, then you would have to choose carefully.

Alternatives are Puffin Island, and along the mainland towards Valentia.

Not possible, and no point, in being specific now. Can advise you nearer the time when weather is known. You should have good diving in any case.

    Cheers

Thats brilliant, thanks a lot. Yeah, we will be using a 25ft Offshore, but more than likely heading out from Ballinskelligs. Any information as to go in the case of high swell, or even coordinates of where to go in perfect conditions around the skelligs themselves would be hugely appreciated!
