Looks like I'll have to reinstall the power kernel to overeclock again post update. All else seems ok so far.

Mine only showed the update after I went into App Manager and manually checked for updates a couple of times.

Can you confirm that your SSU catalogue is set to this?

    https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/mr0
    is what mine is showing.

Looks like maemo.org is down with the load of traffic hitting their servers.

    Changelog: http://www.maemofanatics.com/workaround-for-pr1-3-changelog//

Initial impressions for me is the browser seems faster, even without overclocking.

    Downloading now.

Hopefully I will now be able to make Skype calls.

Looks like mr0 is the global release but mine is 203 which is a UK Variant. Guess I'll have to wait for them to make it available to update unless I get impatient and reflash with the global release.

Very smooth process, I didn't lose anything (apart from apps, which I backed up before update, so no issues).

I can't get over how nippy it feels now. And that was after I had overclocked on PR 1.2. Then again, over the past few weeks I really felt the device was very sluggish.

Hopefully this has fixed the problems I was having with Skype, I'll have to ring home at some stage to see.

Personally, I wouldn't consider having to put ovisuite on my PC to be part of a smooth process.

Yep Internet feeling faster and email is flying for me now.

Cant see anything more and interface feels about the same to me.

Over all it's better than what it was.

I ran out of patience and reflashed with the global firmware, the flash was successful and my apps are currently reinstalling from backup :-)

Jaysus... dusted off my N900 last night and updated to PR1.3 using the maemo flasher. Had to use XP mode as it doesn't work with Win7/64bit. Update was fairly quick though.

Anyone know if/when meego is due out?

Edit: Coming from the SGS, all I can say is

It's still not showing for me and the UK release still isn't on tablets-dev

Do you have to remove the power kernel before updating? And is it possible to put it back on after?

No, I just did an install from Nokia PC suite, it overwrote what was already there.

    I haven't tried re-installing it yet.

In other news - Engadget reports you can run WebOS games on the N900.

I WANT NEED FOR SPEED! :D

tis the way to go so, updating from the pc, only brought data and some settings back for me, app's, themes etc all gone.

Suite flashing from linux (via VirtualBox) didn't work (though syncing and backing up does); doing a backup on the phone and then using the flasher from the linux commandline worked perfectly.

Well. Almost perfectly. If you upgrade your firmware folks, please remember to turn on the alarms again afterwards unless you want to be late for work...

I don't like the alarms on the N900 and still have my N95 sitting in my bedroom acting as an alarm clock for me

You should be fine so matrim, I didn't spot any hints that flashing the N900 firmware by USB cable would try to also flash your N95 by bluetooth :D

However, given what the N900 can do, I'm sure that could be arranged ;)

I had to install via PC Suite as the OTA refused to work and the backup didn't restore my apps :( I reinstalled some of them, but Healthcheck won't install for me now. I had trouble with it after PR1.2 as well.
I can't say I notice any huge difference yet. I had it overclocked to 850 (following someone else's instructions) and I can't remember now how to do it :o I'll have to begin trawling this thread or Maemo again.

Probably quite easily actually, you can sync and backup via Bluetooth and I think you can flash the N900 that way too... but I don't think I'd recommend it :D When flashing anything, I prefer the most stable connection possible as a result of long painful experience :D

I'm being offered the update over the air, will I have to put in anywhere near my PC? I'll just run the back-up function first yeah?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,817 ✭✭✭podge018

Well it wouldn't download for some reason so I tried via PC Suite, told me I had to download Ovi Suite, so I done that and now it's telling me there's no update available? This is melting my head at this stage.

Updated via Nokia updater. Wiped my apps but just restored them. The phone seems alot snappier but other then that I haven't noticed anything different from PR1.2

Roll on dual booting Meego / Android!

Anyone noticing any bugs with the conversation app? The widget says 42 conversations, the app sees none, even after sending several SMSs?

Mine is working fine. I updated mine over the air today and I have to say it is a nice improvement. Very nippy now so it is.

i was able to update the firmware via the OVI suite on my Win7 64bit PC over USB with no issues at all.
