Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Where in the country are, and what are you driving?

Many people have the view that pre NCTs are a waste of time, and the thing to do is run it through the NCT, get the list of faults (if any) then rectify them, re-test for 27.50

However, waiting lists for the NCT are quite lenghty......

Get a normal service done if its due. Only repair obvious faults. Take car for test and for the small sum of €27.50, (Cost of repeat test) you get the definitive list of items to fix. No more, no less. No garage can give you a certain answer in regard to whether an item will pass or fail and certainly, a garage will not do any kind of meaningful check for €27.50 so dont go near them apart from normal servicing.
Also, beware garages offering Free NCT Pre testing. They will be sure to find something to make some profit off. They dont work for free ... ever.

I agree totally with mickdw, I know a couple of people that I work with brought their car for a pre-nct check with a nationwide high speed tyre outfit & were told that their car needed a list of things done, all ignored & their cars passed without a problem !!

All of the above, but don't ignore the obvious stuff that you can do yourself. ie make sure all your lights are working, your tyres are in good order, hub caps are removed, and that in general everything works the way its supposed to.

Alot of things you can do yourself. Tyres and lights in good order.

No oil leaks or fluid leaks or rust on the chassis underneath the car.

    Worth running thru then.
