entry criteria for primary school

Wonder if someone can advise me on entry conditions to primary schools in Dublin area. My son is down on waiting lists for a few schools around Clontarf. We are in the catchment area but he is not christened. I have heard various opinions on whether he will get a place or not - some say he gets a place if he is from catchment area, others say he may not as not christened.

Anyone else have any experience of this with primary schools?

Every school has its own enrolment policy - most denominational schools give priority to those of that faith. Most schools have a catchment area and have a sibling policy. Typically Educate Together schools operate some type of "first come fisrt served" policy. Any school you are interested in will give you a copy of their policy and you can see which category you fit in to.

Think I actually have copies of those somewhere. It's been so long since I put his name down I can't remember.

    Thanks for the tip.
