ah cool - just seen it there it took a while to update

well that should be joe elected then as i doubt many people who voted sinn féin would have given fianna fáil a preference and went socialist down the line

Hmmm, I don't know. Isn't 11,000 votes still a huge amount for Higgins to have to pick up?

does all of mary lous 55,000 go to one of the two left?

if so i would say most people who voted sinn féin would give it to him rather than ryan

Eoin Ryan has done alot better than I expected he would.

On top of that, remember Mary Lou is far more popular than Sinn Féin in general (See the statistics from the locals!) so there's a possibility she picked up some first pref. from people not necc. left wing and could give JUST enough transfers to Eoin to keep Joe out.

Really hope Eoin Ryan gets knocked out here, come on!!!
Too close for my liking at the minute. Either Joe hammers him here or Eoin *just* does it.

No, only her first pref's, which were in the high 40,000s I think?
Unlikely they ALL transfered anything either. We'll see!
I'd say Joe will be ok.

ah, sorry 47928 of the first prefrences duh

but yeah, most would go to joe and others and little to a fianna fáil candidate

Previous voting patterns from General Elections in particular would suggest the vast majority of MLM transfers will go to Joe, most likely more than enough to see him through.

Hopefully Eoin and Sarah can sign on for the Dole together soon, but at the minute this one is very close.

its over joe higgens is elected

he got a whopping 20000 votes from May lou

while Eoin was only able to scrap 5000

    giving higgens a 7000 lead.

    JOE HIGGINS ELECTED
    (see RTE online)

Take that Fianna Fail, you got your knickers in a twist over one 'euro-sceptic' and you just got yourself another one with a sharp wit elected to Brussels.

4 Council seats and an MEP, not a bad days work for the Socialist Party.
Combined with the PBP 5 council seats, and the Sinn Féin 50, I wonder if the 'party left' will get anywhere.

Wow, respect to Higgins, fair play to him. MLM is gone, so I can live with that.

didnt give joe a vote, even down the line

but as soon as it looked likely that mary lou might not get in, was cheering joe on like my life depended on it

    anyone but a ff candidate....

Did she pass any comment? I think people turned the vote around when they heard how much she missed and not being at important votes.
