I received the following from 3V today
    Dear Super-Rush,

    3V Customer Card – KYC –

Thank you for using 3V Vouchers. According to our records, you have
purchased Vouchers with a total value of EU€2,030.00 in the last
    12-month rolling period.

Under the Terms and Conditions governing the use of your 3V Customer
Card, you must not purchase 3V Vouchers with a total value more than
EU€2,500 in any 12-month rolling period. If you exceed this limit, we
will be obliged to de-activate your Card, and you will not be able to
use the Card to buy 3V Vouchers until we have received and approved
documentation to verify your name and address

However, you can provide this documentation now so that your Card will
not be deactivated if you do pass the €2500 limit. The three documents
we need to receive from you are :

    • A certified copy of your passport or driving licence. The copy can be
certified by An Garda Siochana, staff of banks, building societies, An
Post or Credit Unions authorised by the Financial Regulator, Notaries
Public, Chartered Accountants and Certified Public Accountants and
Embassy / Consular staff. If you cannot supply a certified copy of
either of these documents, please forward a completed ML10 form, which
can be obtained from An Garda Siochana.
    and
    • Two original utility bills or bank statements, dated within the last
three months, showing your name and address as they have been registered
with 3V and the date of issue. We can accept ESB, Gas, Eircom, NTL
bills or similar, as well as bank or credit card statements. We can
accept mobile phone bills but only if combined with a bank statement.
If you send two bank or credit card statements, they must be for two
separate accounts. Alternatively, if you sign the letter and return it
to us with the envelope, we can accept that instead of one of the two
utility bills or statements. Unfortunately, we cannot accept copies of
    any of these documents.

Please send the documents to 3V Transaction Services Ltd., PO Box 9835,
    Dublin 1.

If you are an Account holder with permanent tsb, you may have already
provided the information required when you opened your account. If so,
please send a letter with your name, and address, the 19-digit number
from your 3V Customer Card and your permanent tsb Sort Code and Account
Number to 3V Transaction Services Ltd., PO Box 9835, Dublin 1. You will
not have to provide new documentation if the bank can confirm that it
has already received appropriate documentation for the Account.

We have forwarded a copy of this email to the postal address you
registered with us. If you have any questions about this process,
    please email admin@3v.ie.

    Yours sincerely,

    Lucia

They never mentioned this before the scoundrels. I can't see why they need all this information from me. Also they want a certified copy of my license/passport, why does it need to be certified? Why do i need to send originals and not copies of my utility bills? Why do i need to do any of this? I have to pay up front to use the service, so its not like i'm borrowing money from them.

    (guessing)

It's probably to do with money laundering regulations and what not.

They mentioned it in the terms and conditions that you didn't read. You didn't read them did you? No one reads terms and conditions and we have no one to blame but ourselves when there turns out to be something very important in there.

It's an EU anti money laundering law, and circumventing it would not be recommended. They already have the personal information, they're just trying to verify it, you're giving them nothing new with this.

There is no mention of this on their website.

It's there, alright. Check Terms and conditions. Specifically No. 17. Limitations on Purchase, Use and Redemption of 3V Vouchers

When you signed up to 3V and agreed to its T&C's did you even bother to read the T&C's?

If you didn't then this is your fault and based on your post OP it doesn't sound like you did read the T&C's.

    Yes there is
    www.3v.ie
Terms & Conditions in big pink text at the bottom of the page,

Anyone who signs up to any service (be it phones, Broadband, phone, loans, credit cards) without first at least giving the T&C's a quick look over is insane!

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

:o:o I spent an hour looking for the T&C's yesterday and didn't see it. I still find it fuy they didn't look for this info at the begining. They have records of all my purchases so they know i'm not money laundering. Anyway thanks for the replies

Same as 3V and just like a credit card, you just top it up and you always have the same number (number on the card and you can use it in ATM's too)

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

Any issues with topping it up. Half the places on the 3v site had no idea what a 3v card was.

Once or twice I had to go to another shop to top up due to the machine not working but apart from that it's been trouble free for me.

There's more charges for these than for the 3v card, though. It's €3.50 to top up or €5.95 if you're topping up more than €350 and there's a 2.95% charge on every purchase. Plus, there's a charge if you don't use it for 3 months.

But on the other hand, it's easier to top up and you have a higher limit (actually, I don't even know if there is a limit, tbh).

They sent me a letter today saying exactly the same as they said in the email. I ordered a payzone card anyway
