Anyway, I'm not interested in either.

Natal is designed for paedophiles - what's that Milo game all about????

    PS3 for life!

You're hardly expected balanced opinions in the Playstation forum are you?:p

Flapping your arms about and running in circles. There's already a competition for things like this, where everyone is a winner.

I believe if Microsoft [and developers] use the camera properly, then it could be revolutionary.

Imagine playing an FPS where if you lean, your viewpoint follows.

Games where the main focus is using the Natal camera, imo, will fail. Games where the camera is used to further immerse the player will be a success.

As for the PS3 version, the motion controllers seem to actually provide one-to-one movement, something the Wii still does not have.

TBH it will all depend on the software that's released that will decide which is the better system.

What do the PS3 people think of it? I think it will never work properly.

Maybe this was better posted in just Games, to get an even opinion.

Surprisingly enough, PS3 all the way! Shocker . . .

Both are stupid idea's that will result in nothing more than fancy Wii games ( ie novelty drinking games where you play for 20 mins get bored and wander off )

natal looks cool but i cant understand how they can do something like that. Maybe its just something they were just trying to grab attention with and we will never see it again.
where as the ps3 thing, thats just stooopid. I thought the whole eyetoy sh1te had vanished by now.

Moved to the games forums. If you're going to have a discussion about one console versus another then why put it in a console specific forum where you'll have fanboys jerking each other off.

I've just found a new market for inter-console fanboy porn. Off to the patent office with me.

I'll be Nintendo and sit in the corner waggling my soon-to-be obselete wand :pac:

It's funny how much the term "fanboy" is thrown around these boards.

It's like a Salem Witch Trial or something.

Motion controls suck. If you're not playing videogames slumped almost catatonic on your couch or bed, you're doing it wrong

Yeah, but those "retro-are-the-coolerist-than-both" chime-ins are always susceptible to even older ones, until the Ball & Paddle makes an appearance before being piped by Stick & Tire. Seriously.

    My sarcasm, never wasted.

Nobody knows how good these will be until the first three mini game packs are out of the way. Microsofts video was is a blatant lie until they produce exactly what I saw. Sony's looks like it could be as awkward as those two guys demo-ing it.

It was awkward for them because it was a pair of lab nerds in front of a crowd.

I'm not sure theses will have the same impact as the Wii has had. Peripherals that aren't packed with the console like the Wiimote have a habit of failing spectacularly. No matter how good peripherals are the only examples of one selling well I can think of is the wii fit board and guitar hero.

I think that Natal looks pretty impressive, but I'm not sure how well it will resonate with 'hardcore' gamers. I guess that's not really the point of Natal though and I think that controller free gaming could really work well for people who find controllers intimidating. With the right games and NXE integration it could be really cool. Not everyone has their Xbox in a room with lots of space to kick and punch the air though. Rumble may be 'last gen' but I like the feedback I get from a controller, when I'm playing racing games in particular, so holding my hands out in a pretend steering wheel pose doesn't appeal to me. Combining Natal with the current controller appeals to me a lot more and I look forward to seeing games that utilise both. Seeing as how Natal currently runs on a PC/360 combo I wonder if games will take a graphical/performance hit to use Natal? Not that that really matters though.

I liked the Sony presentation a lot, and the one thing that really piqued my interest was the 'precision' of the controller. It's something that really bothers me when I play Wii games or use the Wii interface (and obviously having not been able to try Motion+ yet I don't know if Nintendo have fixed this problem) when the pointer feels a bit off and kind of jerky. From what I saw at the Sony E3 conference it looks like Sony could be the ones to get me into motion gaming, with the right games of course. Assuming I haven't bought a Wii by then. :pac:

I really can't see motion gaming catching on for an online FPS though, I mean the pro gaming scene would look totally different, heh.

That's something I liked actually about the Sony presentation, I like being able to see who is actually coming up with the hardware. I'd love to read about the (final release) Milo AI as well.

At the right price though and with the right games they could sell very well. WiiFit is a monster though, I doubt Sony or Microsoft could replicate that level of success.

What I would really like to see is a CoD4 engine based game on ps3, motion controlled, but with airsoft guns. I mean, you would get some different motion sensors to stick on your M4 for example, and a proximity sensor on the trigger.

I think my idea is flawed. A lot

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

Haha. Anything is possible. Look at the Natal promo video. :D

Like the eyetoy i think motion control's are a gimmick. I hate the wii successful or not!! I don't hink its for the gamer more to use at parties.

They won't have the software to back it up as we saw with other ad on's before.
Im sure both can be successful if they have good games on them.

    Software is key.

If Sony or Microsoft can get first and third party games on their systems that intelligently use the new control interfaces, then they could move beyond the labels of 'gimmicks'.

For me personally, the Wii was used for Mario, Zelda and Metroid. Since those games were released, it has been gathering dust. Nintendo's E3 announcements will probably mean I will fire it up again, but for many, it hasn't moved beyond the realms of 'gimmick' itself. IMO this is due to the lack of quality software.

MS and Sony appear to have gone in different directions with their control schemes. While Sony has gone for precision, MS has gone for reco0gnition and interaction. Purely from an innovation stand-point, MS has excelled but whether that will translate to sales is still debatable.
