Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Oh yes, it's scuppered. Tried the cmd -> netsh....reset line, also winsockXPfix.

Any other suggestions? A clean install is desirable - my own fault for playing registry chicken - but impossible, since I'm moving house right now and the install CD is in one of many boxes.

    I'm open to ideas.

What exactly is your problem? Are you getting connected?

Nope. XP won't detect any network connections. In the device manager the adapter is all ?'d out. All services depending on the tcpip stack running smoothly (Apple mobile decives, Ipod sync, several other programs) aren't running either. I'm pretty stumped.

I assume the Network Connections service is running?

Just use system restore to roll it back.

    Sorry for delay, no internet.

System restore has no restore points. Found the install CD, probable needed a clean install anyway.

You could try running "sfc /scannow" without quotes from the command prompt.

sfc - I can never remember that one :o

don't forget software firewalls can block IP too

might be worth doing a malware scan too / adding in a new network device like USB wireless card to verify if all TCP/IP is screwed up or just that bound to the one adaptor, at the worst you could install the microsoft loopback adaptor and see if you can ping yourself

in very old versions of window you had to remove ALL network components and reinstall them once you started having unfixable problems

I suppose it's not one that you would use that much.
Has worked well for me before on corrupt system files.
