Redundacy advise

There are two of us in the same role. Share the same title, same hours etc.

I have been given notice that the position I am currently employed in is being made redudant. Downsizing, outsourcing etc etc.

The other person in the group is not being made redundant.

I am in the role longer then them. But they are with the company longer. I am the senior person in the job. But the position is seen equal.

I need to know if the above is legal. Is there any sites I can check so I can research the above.
