Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hows it going?

Im driving an 02 VW Bora that has nearly 100,000 miles on the clock and the timing belt really needs to be done.

Basically im looking at roughly how much this will set me back, and would I bet better going to a main Volkswagen Garage or would I be better of with the mechanic who I usually get to to bits and pieces for me?

Any help would be great, Thanks :)

If there's a 100K on the Timing belt and its never been changed, you'd be best off not driving the car anywhere! I would only drive the car as far as a local mechanic to get the t-belt done.... For a car that old don't use the main dealer, get a good indy to do it... also get the waterpump done....

ya change the water pump and put a timing belt kit in not just a belt. tensioners and rollers come in the kit that wear as well espesially after 100k

I would concur. About 500 will be the norm. 400 would be cheap.

If you can find a mechanic that'll do it on the side, €100 labour + the part should do it. I know a few lads down this way doing it for that anyway.

You'd pick up the timing belt kit and pump for bout €250 from a factors and put it at €150 for labour...
