Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    poor Bradley

he's one of their best players of the tournament and got robbed of a final

Thats one of the best marshaled defensive performances I have watched in a long long time....

    Bring on Brazil eh :pac:

There is no law that says the best team on paper must win every time. You are allowed to earn it, to close the talent gap with hunger and determination.

    Absolutely delighted.

100% deserved win for USA. They'll miss 'lil Bradley in the final though.

Just like the one they were supposed to get today, right? I wouldn't bet against this at this stage.

Nothing to do with that tbh,I support Spain and I'm a bad loser is all.

lol, whys that then? They played well and tbh the first 2 games they played they didnt perform as they were knackered from having to play (unjustified) with 10 men.

another bad red tonight, hope this sorta thing doesnt spoil the WC

Surprised at how much im enjoying this tournament. Last time it was on i was really apathetic towards it but its been really good. And i think ive adapted to the annoying horns too!

USA were top notch, Went up miles of respect now in my eyes. Spain were good but just couldn't break that defence. Spain played too technical.

USA vs Brazil, thats gonna be one hell of a match and probably before this cup started everyone would of automatically gave it to brazil but now nobody knows.

    enjoy it, USA were great.

Dempsey is a seriously under-rated player.

As much as I like Spain, I'm absolutely chuffed to bits for the US side. They were far better over the 90 minutes. Spain were not up to scratch, & when it gets down to the nitty gritty they're not up to it - continue to play passing, no where to go football.

Donovan, Bradley, Onyweu and Demerit were class for the US today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,837 ✭✭✭abelard

Delighted USA won (and delighted Spain lost for that matter).

Internet already seems to be brimming with "Spain aren't up for it"/"Spain aren't the team we thought" stuff already though, which is a bit knee jerk in fairness.

Terrible decision by the ref for Bradley.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,058 ✭✭✭JJ

I can't believe it. This reminds me a little of the US beating Portugal in WC 2002. I thought about putting a few quid on the US but if I did, that would've guaranteed defeat. The US defense absorbed every attack and frustrated the Spanish passing whenever they could. Roll on Sunday.

USA are a really good side, like I said a few days ago, seemed noone listened to me.

They remind me a bit like Everton somehow, hard working and no bull s***.! And their players wanted to win so much more than Spain, you could see it.

    They are also incredibly fit.

Brazil to win tho, cant believe everyone backed spain to win, with such short odds almost not work backing them.

Biggest CUPSET from a USA perspective since Belo Horizonte 1950 WC USA 1 ENGLAND 0

This illustrates what a dodgy side Spain are.

Brazil would never lose to a side like the USA in the semi's. Brazil are gonna walk this comp in their sleep on their way to pissing the WC next year.

    Brasil Brasil Brasil

I had a feeling Spain would come crashing down to Earth sooner rather than later. They always bottle it when the going gets tough. EURO 2008 is the only exception to that and there weren't really any other good teams in their prime in that tournament.

Exactly who. I, myself have supported Argentina in all of the last WC's and they have flattered to deceive. Brazil are solid through and through. They hammer all the little teams and teams are afraid of them. This may because of their name but it counts for a lot. Teams are not afraid of Spain because they have won nothing apart from last years EC.

Argentina are obv. a savage team but with Maradona at the helm there are major doubts and Brazil have to be the safest bet of next year @ 5-1. I strongly advise every man, woman and child to get on them now.

They have the same problem as Spain, they are very weak in defense. I feel that they wouldn't make it past the first quality attack they come up against. I dunno, I like Argentina and I feel England could be a good bet now that they have cut a lot of the inconsistencies from their game. Also, on their days, Germany, France and Portugal can beat anyone in world football. Also, Spain can't be discounted although they are constant bottlers in the WC. This is quite a weak Brazil team compared to many past ones and I just feel that other teams have better all round teams than them.
