Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bit of life in the game at last, C'mon Iraq.

Here's hoping Karma gives us an Iraq-Evil empire tie, and that Iraq give their war mongering occupiers a hammering.

Almost in and blocked by Parker!

South African player trips over himself while trying to counter attack.

    Absolute tripe.

Disappointing start to the competition. Hopefully Spain vs New Zealand will be more enjoyable.

Good match, but did anyone else notice a very annoying noise over the commentary when they were watching the game this afternoon? I was watching on RTE 2 btw........

Sounded like a bumblebee buzzing in and around the commentator's microphone?

Anyone else notice this or is it a problem with my TV?

Are you talking about the athmosphere in the stadium?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,157 ✭✭✭Johnny Utah

Oh Christ, a bit of research explains that the South African fans like to show their support by wearing ridiculous novelty hats and blowing into stupid plastic horns, also known as vuvuzelas, to the annoyance of others in the stadium and those at home trying to watch the game in peace!

FIFA can ban flares and racist banners, but they allow these poxy horns, which ruin the commentary and the atmosphere. This could be very, very infuriating when I'm trying to watch the World Cup next summer. I will struggle to hear the wit and knowledge of the great Jimmy 'Memory Man' Magee. What a stupid idea having the World Cup in a backward country like South Africa (World's #1 for petty crime and car-jackings btw).

Maybe I should write to Sepp Blatter and voice my concerns.

    This make me very angry!

    My god resize that picture!!

Also there just showing their support. I found it annoying as well but I ignored it. Unfortunatly the match didn't help me ignoring it tbh.

You can't ban those horns or "ridiculous hats"

Many an Irish "fan" would have been kicked out of previous tournaments if silly hats (or plastic hammers) were bannable.

I really dont see the problem with fans wanting to bring a bit of fun and colour to the stadium with the hats and things. Its all part of the atmosphere.

Though some horns sound ****e and ruin the noise in the stadium.

NZ had a pretty decent game midweek by all accounts. Hope they can give the Spaniards a good game. :)

3-2 to Spain (Unlikey scoreline I know!)
