I've recently gotten into reptiles and stuff like that{snakes mostly} im looking to get one and so i did some research and on every site it says stuff like have a qualified vet handy at all times so i went to the Railway vet in Loughrea told her and she started laughing at me !!! lol i was like wtf?? she said theres none in the whole of galway and she doesnt know of any but thats stupid isn't ??it or am i just gone in the head?! PetWorld in Terryland retail park doesn't know of any IN galway dublin i just think it's stupid because things like herpticulture is getting very popular and i never noticed before now that we didn't have any but Ireland doesnt have reptile expo's neither it's not a BIG hit in ireland but it could be if encouraged and publicised right?? any reptile owners, browsers or anyone feel free to give me your views on this even if your not interested i just want your take on it :P:D:D:D:D

Reptiles are a bit of a niche pet I would imagine.

Perhaps asking in the pet forum will get you some answers.

Claiming reptile ownership as being culturally diverse is a bit of a stretch, however there are vets around who are familiar with reptile care. There aren't enough reptiles to justify someone specialising in them, but they do see them all the time.

Tom Rennick in Tuam has been my vet for ten years and I've brought in everything from insects, rodents, wild animals and my dogs - he also treats reptiles for a mate of mine with a pet shop.

I'm not sure what a reptile expo is supposed to be, but I'd bet there are plenty of nerdy/goth spider-owners who'd love to bring their pets to Leisureland in Salthill and stand around complaining about the cost of crickets.

I know its a bit of a distance for you in Galway but theres 2 very good reptile vets in Bray and Dublin (Dundrum). Bairbre O'Malley in Bray and John Bainbridge in Dundrum. We go to them and we are in Co.Wicklow.
Prefer Bairbre for our small furries... rats, and ferrets and go to John Bainbridge for our reptiles. We also go to Avondale in Arklow for our dogs.

I didn't really mean to imply that.

there is alot more people keeping reptiles than you might think
almost every pet shop has reptiles or reptile equipment these days
i have a burmese python, yellow anaconda, king baboon tarantula and a stout leg baboon tarantula.
i also plan on adding a tegu in a few months.
