    Hello,

My company will be releasing an windows administration product later this year.

We hope to sell the product world wide and therefore need an airtight licensing agreement governed under Irish law. My solicitor says he can do this but I have my doubts. Any advice at all welcomed.

    Thanks..

Thanks Ive had a look at that site but we are looking for license terms rather than product licence usage or product activation.

You don't think your solicitor can but a bunch of random programmers might?

Wrong forum, IMO, try legal advice maybe.

Although competent, Our solicitor has never written a software license agreement before and this is not a area we what to take any chances on.

I'll post in the legal forum if I don't get any further answers here.

Your solicitor will be able to get the licence agreement drafted by a barrister who has expertise in that area. Alternativly, you could go directly to one of the larger firms with expertise and pay accordingly.

If you know people who have started similar businesses, maybe you should have a chat with them & see what legal firms they used for this.

I think your right to be sceptical. There's a lot of solicitors out there fighting for a greatly reduced amount of work.

I know Tomkins are specialists in intellectual property in Ireland, I don't know if that extends to software licensing.

    Hope this helps.

You can use this PURELY as a starting point. Customise it for yourself and get your solicitor to look over it for Irish / International loopholes.

Yes but be careful, make sure that he undertands software licencing. We always did the licencing under UK law as its nearly the same for us and its less scary for non europeans.
