Thought you'd like to know.
Some fun facts:
1) The Lair is the biggest thread in the history of Boards.
2) For several months last year, the Nocturnal forum was one of the top 3 busiest forums on boards. (No idea this year)
3) The Lair on it's own represents over 1% of Boards.
4) The Nocturnal forum is now second only to AH in the rec drop down in terms of size, with 172,000+ posts (we're not going to be worrying them any time soon with their 1,200,000 posts ).
5) For those who weren't there at the start, the original mods were myself, Nerin and Kharn.
6) The forum request thread was over 1,000 posts long (THATS how you push for a forum)!
So anyway yay 1 year, it went so fast. Thanks to all the posters who make the forum what it is and especially thanks to Nerin, Kharn, Orestes, Watna, Randy and Dragan. No thanks however to Almighty Cushion who snuck in and stole the 100,000 post in the Lair.

I salute this birthday.
I received my Noc title in January but still I am quite a noob around here.
This said the Cork forum and the Nocturnal are the ones I take most part in.
And I was so glad to come to the beers for the first time this last friday.
I was very nervous also.
For a serie of coincidences (and willings) these first Noc beers...changed my life, u can believe it or not.
I just can say THANK YOU all.
My cake for ye is a Reese's one ^_^

Thanks very much everyone (especially the mods) for making this place what it is and most importantly making it work! IMO, the best part of the forum is the social aspect and for me that's been great (for the most part).

Hard to believe it's only been a year, they grow up so fast these days...
So the Noc forum hasn't quite turned out to be what we were expecting, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. However, I'm very proud to mod this place. I definitely believe it helped me get this job too since I'm at the fore-front of dealing with this latest generation of boardsies

thanks to all the mods for making this such an oddly happy place for its themes
I only joined the ranks of the nocs a few months ago but I can genuinely say this is the first place I have felt full comfortable within myself in.
We have such a wide array of frequenters here, from fully employed to students, witha bunch of otakus as well as a transformer addict milled in their along the way and so many other kinds of people I've actually lost where I was going with this post!

Yaay for the good ship Nocturnal Forum!!! Lots of thanks to all those amazing posters who've sailed in it! Its a wonderul place to drop into and has kept me sane, (well, reasonably) on a fair few occasions. Big thanks to Doom, Nerin and all the mods who've steered a smooth and wonderful voyage over the past year.

Jeez, this place has been around a year already? Man, that makes me feel really old.
I remember when it was just an ickle baby forum taking it's first few steps into the big bad world of Boards.

Congrats everyone, especially the mods who have done a brilliant job since Day 1.0 -
Why should a social forum be concerned that people want to use it to be social?
The Lair is pretty much the same thing as the forum request thread.
Looking at the drop down, there's 35,000 posts ourside of the Lair. I don't have exact figures but I would estimate that is average for a forum on boards, in fact, large for one which is only a year old.
The Nocturnal forum is a regular sized forum with one, ridiculous sized thread thread which serves a purpose.

Happy Birthday Noc. I loved the request thread and have loved lots of the threads from the past year. I'm not as regular as I probably was at the start but the old heads still know me when I pop into The Lair and the new heads are very welcoming!
