Driving without insurance

    Hi Guys,

I've a quick question i was hoping someone could answer,

I lent my car to a friend who drove it without insurance and got stopped and asked to produce insurance within 12 days,
under the new penalty points he now faces a court fine plus 5 points,
however can anyone tell me - will i receive any points/fines?

A few years ago before the points came in - this same situation happened to my sister and her husband - the husband wasnt insured and when it came to court the judge put both of them off the road for 12 months

obviously with the points now this has changed considerably,
does anyone know what i face - point/fines

    Thanks a lot,

You won't receive points, but assuming that you lent the car to him in full knowledge that he was uninsured, the judge could choose to penalise you.

Your would be a separate summons though, so you're unlikely to see any fallout from it.

Has he insurance on a car himself by any chance. If he does he may have been covered under the driving other cars extension.

Open insurance means anyone can drive your car.

Most insurance allows you to drive other car but on 3rd party cover
