correct way to cook fillet steak?

do some people glaze on both sides at a high heat to keep the juices in & then reduce to a medium heat? I rub some olive oil into the fillet..some salt & pepper cook on a medium heat..with just a little red on the inside... how do you cook yours?

pepper, salt, olive oil. high heat, 2 1/2 - 3 mins each side. Take off the heat and allow sit for 5.
