HDMI to projector via AV amplifier

I recently bought a Sony AV HDMI amplifier in an attempt to connect up an xBox 360 and laptop to it via HDMI and output HDMI to the projector.

If I connect the laptop directly to the projector it renders perfectly, and the resolution i think is 1280X800. I can play MKV and AVI files and they play smoothly with no lag on the projector.

If I select the laptop on the projector via the amplifier the resolution changes
and what appears on the projector is about half the size. I can change the resolution to 1920X1080 however the detail is too small. Further to this the MKV and AVI files seriously lag on the projected output.

Does anyone know if this can be resolved?

Check for an overscan setting in your laptop display config where your AMP may be listed now instead of the projector, and set it to zero, or slide bar to right. That should sort it, if I am thinking correctly as to what the issue is.

Thanks Eddie, I'll give that a go when I get home.

As far as I remember when I first plugged the laptop into the amplifier and connected to the projector I got some dialog box from windows asking me to confirm some settings. Like a fool I cancelled it, and not sure how to get it back. No doubt it was probably relevant.
