Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seems like a decent deal, considering its £900 in Currys UK for the tv alone (without bluray player).

Anyone notice its actually cheaper for us here down South. Its 900£ in the UK. Thats 1055€ with no mention of a free bluray player.:)

Doesn't seem too badly specced for the price. I'd like to see the 200Hz in action next to one of Sonys 200Hz sets. The major fear in an LG set though is ****e black levels. Even in that review the OP links to, they mention it wont have the greatest blacks, and Whathifi are fairly vague at the best of times. I certainly wouldnt buy it until you've see it in action but seeing as its in Currys I guess people would:rolleyes:

btw, I might have considered buying this if it wasn't Currys

Saw one of these on display yesterday in Liffey Valley.
Quality seems decent. Cant speak for the overall specs or the reliability of LG as a brand......

Side by side the Samsung sets appear to have the best picture quality of the one's that were on display at the rear of the shop....

Anyone know if you can buy an extended warranty in Currys for this TV?

Why would you want to, biggest scam going tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,533 ✭✭✭Zonda999

I know that Currys do offer extended warrantys so they probably do on this tv too. They are a complete rip off though, especially compared to richersounds warrantys.

I too am of the opinion that if nothing goes wrong within the first two years, nothing will go wrong at all. Afaik, tvs and the like purchased within the EU have a 2 year warranty, whatever about the shop saying about a 1 year warranty

I don't think that's true Ireland did not agree to this yet. As far as I know they can be held responsible for actuating a repair within a two year period but at your own cost outside the first year if the manufacture does not supply a two year warranty.

There does seem to be some confusion about it alright. See this thread though.

It could be a useful tool when something breaks before 24 months. To be fair, when one buys a TV for a grand they'd be expecting it to last a little longer than 12 months, whatever about the warranty.
