If your handset is connecting to the Internet automatically then it could be a number of things e.g. email client, RSS feeds, GPS application etc. It is generally an application automatically connecting to the Internet, so I would recommend you check any applications you have installed first and see if they have an option to automatically connect to the Internet and disable the option.

I think he means that apps automatically disconnect after a few minutes and he needs to make a new connection which costs the minimum 2c connection charge

I dont think the n95 has idle time out settings, the samsung possibly did. Older phones which were built for wap did, now its more designed for packet data

Tools>settings>Connection>packet data> change when needed to when available. Think that might do it.

I'm not sure about that. Afaik making the phone connect whenever a GPRS connection is available would mean he'd be paying the 2c connection charge randomly all day. I'm not 100% sure though so there might not be a charge for the connection it makes under those circumstances.

It definitely affects battery life btw

You should check what you have the packet data apn set as, should be under the when available option. Should be wap.mymeteor.ie for what you want

Yup. It's keeping a constant connection to the network so it takes battery life. And you should check your call records on the website over the next few days to see if you are being charged for these phone making these automatic connections

data.mymeteor.ie should be fine as far as I know. Any reason not to use data.mymeteor.ie Davy?

What OS are you running, because it has had problems with vista. Try installing it in another location. Use Pc suite, rather than Nseries suite.

davy are you sure V 31.0.015 is the latest update for the n95

because i did the update and it has said 20.0.016 is the newest update ?

This is due to your networks 'product code'. This need to be changed using NSS so the NSU will update the new firmware to the phone. If you change your product code to 0550799 it will let you update to 31.0.015 .
