Car keeps stalling in traffic

Only spotted it this morning. Car suddenly stalled when I had to brake due to stopped traffic ahead. Started her up again no problem. Again stalled with battery light coming on when I had to stop again.Gave her plenty of rev then out the dual carrigeway but then stopped again when I was turning into work as had to stop before turning into the entry.

Any ideas? It's a 93 golf and the head gasket is starting to go which I wont be fixing. Just trying to get a few more months out of her. Not sure if that's part of the reason the car is stalling. Happened once before as well a few weeks back but nothing till this morning again.

Dirty throttle body? How are the revs when its idle?

Went for a spin at lunchtime. Checked engine and found collant was very very low. Topped up. Started and the revs were fine when idle. No problem at all stopping in traffic etc.

Revs weren't great when idle in the morning when I started up. Had to rev the engine to get the car going.

So looks like something is dirty (oil) and took the car a while to get going

check the battery connection, specially minus (black) cable.

My car had the same problems and the reason was bad earth connection for the minus cable.
