I noticed a stack of 1TB Seagate (not Western Digital as I originally said) External Hard disks on dispaLY near the counter in Easons Liffey Valley today.

Doesn't seem to bad a price based on a quick search of dabs.ie.

    What model is it?

I rang Easons Tallaght and they have a Dan electric for €89

Elara have a Toshiba 1TB at this price for some time, pretty good value. WD is prob a better brand I suppose tho.

I saw these today in Eason's, Patrick St. Cork.

1TB external Drive with an HDMI output for €99. You can plug straight into a TV and play movies from the disk.

be very slow getting a 1Tb drive, it it goes bust your pretty much screwed

losing all that data in one fell swoop, no wonder they are cheap.

Them hot swappable units are they way to go for mass storage but of course more costly

Sorry, for some reason I said WD when they are seagates. Not with it yesterday at all.

is this 1 TB as in 2 x 500GB, or is it a bonafidey 1TB HDD?

Thanks to the OP for this, just back after grabbing 2TB of storage spread over three HDDs! Excellent price.

There was just one, sitting amongst the 500MB ones. Sorry.

Thanks for that OP, picked one up in Liffey valley although it was clearly labeled 89.99 comes pre-formatted NTFS, so if your using it with USB ported dvd players you will probably have to convert it to FAT32. Currently transferring 223GB of stuff I'd downloaded to it so that I can clear off my C drive, comes with 2 year warrenty also.

Does the 500gb version also have HDMI out? Would be very handy as a media player for me!

No, it's just an external hdd. There is a 500MB 'disgo' media player there for €99. Not sure of specs though.

I imagine you have all your data spread out over a dozen 80GB IDE drives, and that's great, but leave the scaremongering at home. Normal people use 1TB external HDDs for backing up and/or transporting data.
