Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok this thread is kinda dead! Soooo I thought I'd try and entice people to start posting! They say the best way to practise is by writting a little everyday, no matter how small! And I thought it might also be a nice way to foster a bit of a community. So to help us get started I'll post the guidelines from a question on the LC:

    • てんきはどうでしたか。 (What was the weather like?)
(What time did you wake up?)
(Where did you go?)
(What did you do and with whom?)
(How? - I think...:pac:)
Anyway you can post in romanji, hiragana, kanji or whatever and it might be nice if people helped correct each other's entries (NICELY!). Don't feel you have to answer all/any of the questions I just thought they might help! I'll post mine later when my day has actually started (yes I know it's 4:30pm...I'm a night owl :D)

Oh and if anyone else has any other language games please start a new thread with them...it's an awsome way to learn!

There is no 'n' in rōmaji (sorry, pet hate).

Also, I don't know who 'they' are that 'say the best way to practise is by writting a little everyday', but the way a language is learned is through input, not output. Visit this site for very useful insights (antimoon concentrates on English, but their research is applicable to any language). Trying to output too early can lead to unnatural-sounding phrases being created, then propagated through repetition. The reason for this is that you're usually translating from your base language (generally your native language) to the language you're learning, which is prone to error.

You should practice by reading or hearing a little (Japanese written/spoken by a native, or someone with native-level proficiency) every day.

I'd advise a read through www.alljapaneseallthetime.com (plus antimoon above) for anyone serious about learning Japanese and interested in more information on the above.

Yes; my sad life in 30 seconds - and yes; probably LOADS of mistakes! I know this was my idea guys but I'm offline for the next few days so anyway, I'll see ye then.
