Website selling pictures

A friend of mine is amatuer photographer, he wants to setup a website with some of the pictures he has and see if he can make money selling them. Are there any software packages out there that can do this? guessing there is something written in php or perl, python..etc???

Take a look at some of the Content Management Systems (CMS). I am partial to Joomla where you could use one of the gallery addons combined with an ecommerce addon. Im sure there are loads of CMS's that could do it though.
