Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hello,

Drove off from petrol station yesterday leaving fuel cap on roof of car. Went back later and found it but it was smashed.

Any idea where I can get a a repalcement from in Dublin, preferably Dublin 2/4/6?

Is it a standard thing or does it vary from maker to maker?

Found one on eBay but dont want to have to wait for it to arrive.

Car is 1999 Toyota Yars, Jap import.

Also, I'm assuming it is relatively safe to drive around without this?

    Thanks

Any Petrol station should have replacements, there about €5 and will do the trick for you

You don't want to drive around without it. The replacements eireal mentions are basically universal rubber covers, I'd get one of them for the moment - you're not going to get a real one on a Sunday!

Is it a locking fuel cap or not? If its not, just get one out of a breakers yard. If it is, you are basically stuck going to a main dealer. Some cars have both locking and not based on spec levels though...

Yes get a universal one in halfords or similar. You can then order a proper one at your ease. Th universal one is really only a temporary thing.

Thanks for the replies, its not a locking cap so I'm guessing it should not be too hard to replace.

Would one of these do the trick?:

I'd be looking for the real deal, should be the same as the European one. easily got in a scrapyard or from a Toyota dealer.

I'm not 100% sure about the safety of the universal ones, personally I'd rather have the correct cap.

Quicker to pop down to your toyota dealer or a scrap yard. I see the one on ebay is "as new" condition. I guess that means used normally.

Toyota want about €40 for a replacement one, quite a lot for a bit of plastic.

Anyone know of any breakers yards where I could try for one, would surely be cheaper?
