Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just wondering if the engine diagnostic light on is an nct failure or as long as emmisions are ok can you still pass.
Have an nct coming up and dont want to bring it in with a fault that will make them fail it before it goes through

Check engine lights are NOT part of the test. They cannot fail you for this.

Airbag lights are also not part of the test

However ABS lights are part of the test.

True, this rule is changing soon though and any warning light being on will be a fail, not an issue right now though

I passed a 02 Rover 45 through the NCT with the same light on. I mentioned it to the tester beforehand and he said " No problem" It only came on after getting some engine work done, but seems to be just a technical fault as the car is A1 and sailed through the test. This was about 12 months ago.

It will NOT fail as long as your emissions are ok. My light comes on intermittently due to a short in an O2 sensor but car drives fine. As it happened the light was on the day of it's NCT a few months back and passed fine.

ok so i dont need to rush to get it fixed thats good.
driving round last night a bulb blew so if anyone knows how to change a dipped bulb in an alfa 156 that would be a great help :)

see http://www.autostalk.com/alfa-romeo-cars/156-headlight-bulb-replacement-384514.html for details on the parking light bulb - presumably the dip isn't that different.

Technically it should fail if the engine management light is on as the tester should not carry out the raised idle emmisions test or a diesel smoke test if there is an engine management light on.
