Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Strange one today I have a passat 1999TDI. Never had any problems engine wise today however I was going down the road and the car seemed like it wasnt running at full power. It wouldnt hit the high end of the revs. On the motorway doing 120km but with the foot to the floor would not go any quicker (I know you dont want to speed limit etc but usually it'd be biting to go faster but nothing. I parked it up had a bite to eat and when I started it again and drove off it drove normally again worked fine so I dont know what the hells going on. Any ideas? No warning lights came on either.

    cheers

Guesses at things like air flow sensor, split in air intake, turbo problems....

sure someone more familiar with the TDIs will be on shortly to give you a better reply!

I was thinkin turbo problems but really hoping I was wrong. I was driving around again today and it was fine. Just hoping it was a once off but knowin my luck it was the start of something horrid. I've heard passats can have problems with their turbo's. Airtake sensors maybe? I hope your right.

I am having trouble with my A4 tdi.It loses power at about 80 mph.. have to turn the car off before it will go out of limp mode..
Checked all the pipes and found nothing.. Dont really wanna replace Maf (130 euro) in case that doesnt fix the problem ...

Let me know how u sorted the passat out..

The easiest way to check the MAF is to plug it out and drive. If the car doesnt feel any different then the MAF is shot.

Mate in work had the same symptom on a TDI; blocked EGR was the verdict.

what about getting a second hand MAF out of a crashed car and trying it... will cost a lot less than a new part.....

What's an EGR? Same thing happens my Golf, have to turn off, and turn on to get it back.
