Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Canon 1000D or Nikon D60

Looking for advise please: I am hoping to buy my first DSLR soon and have narrowed it down to the above two cameras. My indecision lies in that the Nikon D60 comes with a VR lens while the Canon 1000D now no longer seems to come with an IS lens but their ordinary 18-55mm kit lens.

Is image stabilisation in lenses vital?? for a beginner?? I would intend staying with the kit lens until I get a little bit more proficient. It's a pity that Canon stopped selling the 1000D with the IS lens as I think this would have swayed me to this camera.

From reading reviews, the specs of the respective cameras seem fairly evenly matched. I know that they are both reasonably older models but they are spot on in my price range. The 450D would be ideal but it just that little bit too expensive.

I would be interested to hear the views of the knowledgeable folk on this board to help me decide.

    Thanks in advance.
