Ah he is not so bad,its the character that is just kind of boring.Although this thing about him knowing Sookie's cousin could be interesting. Also with Eric after Sookie it means it could be good.

Liked the scene with Jason and Andy in the jeep. Was good to see him stand up for himself.

"I work out like a mother****er. And I watch a lot of porn - learn stuff"

Very much a builder episode. Didn't particularly like ANY of the scenes with Tara and her mother, was hoping that LaFayette was gonna hit one of them with the butt of his gun.

Eric, again, was brilliant when he brought the kids to the club.

    "Tea-cup humans"

Eric seems just to going along for the ride in most of the scenes he is in. Apart from the whole Godric story.

    Anyhoo...looking forward to the finale.

    Goodnight tiny humans.

Who here called it that Eric could fly, way back when he healed Lafayette and told him he had to fly, then showed up in Dallas very quickly? I don't want to go back through the thread to find out, but good call :).

So (and feel free to spoiler tag the answer if needed), in the books, can all the vampires fly or does it have to do with age/power? Cause Bill sure seems happy to use Anubis Air...

Jason and Andy are a great duo, though I still don't know where things are going with them. It was kind of ironic that Sam did not want to follow them, telling them they were going to get themselves killed, but it seems he is in more trouble now by going off on his own...

And WTF is that egg (?!) all about?

Though did anyone notice that Hoyt's mom seemed to be indicating that Maryann was expecting a child or something? Is that what the freaky egg is about?

    Two weeks. Aaaaargh!

In the books,I think it says that Eric can fly.

Also on the first or second episode, after Sookie has met Bill, she's asking him loads of questions and she asks can he fly.He says no but he knows one who can.It was after she drank his blood.

Did anyone else get Jason's reference to World War Z? "It's Armageddon! I know I read a book on it, and oral history of the zombie apocalypse.":D

In the first book Bill can levitate and older vampires can do more. Remember the scene from the 2nd episode with Bill and Sookie having a romantic stroll in the graveyard after his visit with Gran. In that scene in the book Bill levitates for Sookie. In the tv show though, Sookie asks Bill if he can turn into a bat and he says some vampires can change form but he is not one of them. Then she asks can he levitate and he says no.

Yeah, it was a good partition episode. Nothing really much of note, more just bringing the threads together for the season finale. Loved the conversations between Jason and Andy: "I wonder if Sam has ever turned into a dog and had sex with a lady dog?" :D

    Thanks.

He has some plans for him. Also when Eric finished he said he 'has to fly'. Then there was a sound like taking off. I'm thinking that as the vampires mature they become more powerful and eventually gain the ability to fly. This would be why older vampires blood is far more valuable than newer ones.

It was a good episode but it didn't have the pace of the last few. Andy and Jason really worked well together. Jason had some great lines again. The scene with the both of them in the truck really was good.

The Queens court was interesting. She must have a lot of power as Bill went along with whatever she said. It was interesting that Sookie's cousin was there and then the Queen said that she can#t wait to meet Sookie before Bill left. It will be interesting to see if she has plans for her in the next season.

Loved the scene in fangtasia with Sam, Eric and the kids. I think that Same met Eric when he went into Merlotte's in season one with Pam and intimidated the rednecks who burned the vampires. Saying that they know when someone has offended against them.

Tara's mother was monumentally stupid to let her go. When Lafayette met MaryAnn and Karl I knew she was going to change him as he is only human. Karl didn't end up too well after all of his serving. Now Lafayette is going to be her cook.

I have a feeling that MaryAnn is going to use Sookie as the offering as she has just learned that Sookie has powers and so stradles 'both' worlds. That and the Queen said that the Maenads are constantly changing their recipes in order to summon their god.

I'm not sure if it's either that he's just a bad actor or he's been told to ham up the whole southern gentleman thing but unless he starts getting interesting storylines I could almost see the show continueing without him.

I have a funny feeling that in season 3 jason joins the police.

He was in Ultra Violet, a 6-part British vampire series from 10 years ago. It was pretty good series where the vampires are never referred to as vampires.
He plays a vampire in that too.

I'm not overly impressed with either of them. Much prefer to see Alexander Skarsgård (Eric) win an award - he rocks. The whole tea-cup humans scene was priceless :)

He's a great actor, it's hard to believe that Eric and Brad (from Generation Kill) are played by the same guy.

That was brilliant alright.Pam's reaction too to the kids.

The Vampire Queen is really hot too.I like that addition a lot.

To be fair, Its not that hard to play the cool, aloof badass. As good as Skarsgård is, he gets the best lines and some great scenes. Most of the Dallas storyline would be an actors dream...loads of range and different scenes to play.

Moyer has a good role, he should be doing better with it. He's very one tone. Leimrod put it brilliantly a few pages back with his "Sookie....I am Vampire!" impression. :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,942 ✭✭✭missingtime

I think Moyer got a little unlucky with the role myself. Whenever he has to say "Sookie" in that deep southern drawl he loses any bit of credibility.

Example: When he buried himself in dirt in series 1; he called out after her. That and the combination of him being naked with dirt all over his arse really didn't work...It was a kind of an embarrassing scene.

Any of the serious scenes about their relationship just don't work cos he has to say that silly name in that silly voice.

I dont think many actors could really pull it off.

+1 to that, I always love Eric and Pam together...

Only got a chance to watch the latest episode tonight... some absolutely great stuff in it.

I think along with Jason and Lafayette, Eric is becoming one of the best characters on 'True Blood'. Alexander Skarsgård has an astounding ability to literally steal every single scene he's in.. and he looks fecking sharp in a suit. The three standout scenes in the latest episode all featured him - the "tea-cup" humans scene was superb, the Lafayette hallucination was great and even Eric's altercation with Bill had some biting dialogue.

Jason and Andy was great as expected.. Sam and the kids was enjoyable.

Once again, the weak link is the MaryAnn / Eggs / Tara storyline. Although it's wrapping up nicely, the other storylines elsewhere was just more interesting and enjoyable... to me anyways!

    Looking forward to the finale..!

Just watched all 23 episodes over the past 10 days. Gotta say it's an enjoyable show. Can't wait to see how MaryAnn gets taken out.

I take it that the big egg was just some bizarre trip on the part of Tara and Egg (coincidentally just after Jason had been talking about Sam laying an egg) or is that how shapeshifters are born...

The main problem with the Mary Ann saga is Tara. She's just a pain in the arse of the character, I don't find her very likable. It's been going on too long as well, they dragged it during the Dallas story so they could wait til Sookie and co. got back to wrap it up.

Though in fairness, it is much more fun with Jason involved :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

I wish they would kill her off....but she's black so I'm guessing that won't happen. Definately my least favourite character and actor. I swear, the woman can't act. In every scene she is in, she is shouting and giving the audience her "surprise eyes" whether the scene calls for it or not.

Jason, Eric and Lafayette also bring comic relief.....and unlike her their lines are usually funny :p

Maybe it's just a pet peeve, but I tend to want to skip scenes with her in it. I don't skip em, but its a bad sign that she makes me want to. Only character/actor that really irks me on the show.

same here. She doesn't bother me. I mean her running off to save Eggs (curious name now that I think about it, lol :p) was no different to Sookies shenanigans which have put her in danger.

I also thought she did a very good job at the start of this season. The look on her face when she seen the dead woman with her heart ripped out in the back of Andy's car was very believable.

I think there's like an uncanny valley for stupidity... the more stupid people are in a show the more irritating they are, but it eventually hits a point where they go from irritatingly stupid to hilarious. Like Jason, he has to be the dumbest person in the show, but I like him a lot more than Sookie.

Just seen that Channel 4 will be showing this, along with Generation Kill.

On Tara,I don't like her at all.She annoys the hell out of me.Whatever storyline she's in is terrible.Maryann now, her mother and the spirit one in the 1st season.

And Bill pronounces Sookie as 'Sookeh', eveyone calls Sam 'Saayum', etc., it's just the accent, I suppose...

I watched the first few episodes months ago, wasn't too into it. But saw a few people say it got better so I gave it another go, and I'm very glad I did. I'm up to date now and really enjoyed it. Watched the last 15 or so episodes over the last week or two and I'm sad I have to wait for the next episode. Like a lot of other people, I really like Eric. Looking forward to next episode :D

Ah well. Summer is usually barren tv wise....except for this and entourage there hasn't been a whole lot. so atleast all the other shows are starting back in september and october.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Wow... not really sure what to make of all of that - it was a lot to take in.
It was brilliant, but so many subplots going on, that I need to get my head around it all, and it's gonna be a long 9 months or so until the next episode...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

I think we were synchronized there CaptainNegative. Just finished it myself :p

Enjoyed it myself. I can see Sookie turning to Eric for help in finding Bill.....and him pretending to help. Though there is no garuntee that it was him that did it. Part of me thinks it would be too obvious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,012 ✭✭✭✭titan18

There was a lot of nothing for a lot of the episode.Felt they kinda rushed the Maryann ending and the lack of Eric was crap.Between the Maryann ending and Eggs dying, which I'm happy with,it seemed like filler.

It didn't feel like a finale at all and it was weird.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

Thats how they did it last season though. If you remember last seasons finale, Rene was dead with a good 25 minutes left of the episode to go and they spent the rest setting up next season....which is what they did here.
