LG Wont connect to PC

Hi All Got a new LG KP500 and having problems getting it connected to PC. have followed instructions to the letter in manual on both laptop and desktop but in the connection wizard at the last stage the PC doesnt connect to the phone. Anybody else have a similar problem???
