Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Logbook - does anyone use one?

I picked up all the course material for the OCA - Art Of Photography course, on fleabay. Some excellent instruction, and very interesting tasks. Looking forward to pushing myself to "see with the mind and eye".

Anyway, it suggest keeping a logbook, for ideas, inspiration, critique of your own work and others; as well as a kind of diary of your work and the techniques used. This logbook is used as part of your final assessment.

Does anyone here use a logbook? I know I don't, but I'm heading out for a ring binder tomorrow ;)

I also have one of these, very useful when I'm at events and need to take names for who's who in a photo.

Moleskin notebooks are excellent quality and worth the few euro, I have one of these one#'s http://www.moleskine.com/catalogue/classic/

You can buy them on Amazon or ebay,

I really should start doing this. I like to go out and look for different flower species and take photos (not really "photography" as such but collecting flowers without picking them!) Problem is, I often take so many that I forget where I took them...I must get a moleskin...

I'd recommend the moleskin over the "police mans notebook" as the moleskin will stand up to alot more

    I don't have a fancy Black'n'Red one.

You'll occassionally find a shopping list in mine so I wouldn't want to destroy a moleskin with shopping items for the week which reminds I need Banana's for the Banoffee Pie I'm trying this weekend

I use a moleskine for other things but for photo ideas I'm building shutterscouts.com.

In general, I find it essential to record my ideas (subject/location/conditions) because otherwise I'll have forgotten them when I actually need them! I'm often sitting at home wondering "what can I shoot today?" or end up back at the same places. Keeping a logbook of ideas can really help you to make the most of your time and break out of familiar ideas.
