Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

UK Irish Registration question

Not sure if this is the right section but im looking for some advice. I recently moved to the UK. I brought my 04 Alfa 156 JTD with me. Ive been told that i can use it here for 3 months and have notified my insurance.

    Heres the question...
im between minds on wheather to keep the car here and reregister or wheather to bring it back to ireland to sell it? The car is great and has never given me any problems.

i believe its certainly worth less over here and im not sure would an rereg'd irish car be hard to sell here in the future. Also the car has a 156 irish plate. if i put on a UK reg would i lose the irish plate if i wanted to switch back.

The thing is cars are certainly cheeper here and you get better value for your bucks. ..Sell or re register?

    Thanks for your help.

If you decide to bring it back to Ireland you will be reissued your old plate and are not liable for VRT. If it was me id hold onto the car and UK register it.

If you are into cars and would like the best car possible for your money, sell it here and buy a better uk car for same price. Then if you are staying in uk long enough, you may be able to take the uk car back here vrt free.
IF you are happy with the car and not really bothered about getting a better one, keep it and rereg it in the uk.

Its a tough call...i like the car but i also wouldnt mind a better one :). i think it would be a waste of money to re register it in the uk. Thanks for the comments.
