Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

outlook 2 GB limit

    Lads and lasses

    have a user that thought it would be a good idea to allow their PST file to become 2.5GB in size and now she has a problem retrieving items from it. So I'm looking at splitting it somehow. Anyone know of any good (free is better) apps for doing to for her?

    There is a MS tool for it - PST2GB I think it was called. If you have a 2003 or 2007 version of office you can create a newer style PST that does not have the 2Gb limit.

    She will loose some info from the PST file though.

    don't forget to empty deleted items too

    there are a lot of apps that archive off attachemnts to a folder and leave a shortcut in the email

    archive tool built into outlook will allow you do move older emails out
    you could setup several PST's one for each year even the dumbest user should be able to figure that out



    key points here
    - bigger pst's are slower
    - you are more likely to corrupt a larger pst by not waiting for it to close
    - higher chance of larger files being corrupted
    - more emails lost if a bigger pst gets damaged
    - repair/scan will take far longer with bigger pst's
    - microsoft don't support pst's over network
    - microsoft don't recommend pst's over 500MB

    - what backup do you have for when it becomes corrupt ?

    - at a guesstimate you could say that the chances of loosing email and the severity of when it happens is proportional to the square of the size of the PST
