You know that stargate takes place on planets right? Not in space :p

Oh, and I'd pay money to see someone play airsoft in a Barnie outfit. I suspect I would be in no condition to play on account of being in a heap on the ground laughing hysterically mind you.

    DM... Designated Marksman...

a DMR is a Designated Marksman Rifle... specialist accurised weapon for said role...

Mm, if you're a DM, I suppose you wear what the army wears... or what your team wear, it will matter imo, and a sensible group will pick something to blend in anyway... that slight advantage is cumulative... Then again its relative I suppose... It all matters what they pick.

Not my kind of TV show but from the youtube vids i found it appears the camo's used are a mix of ABU, a type of tiger stripe in ACU-like colours and Desert tiger stripe,

Dont think ive ever seen so many people in Multicam as i have today in Predator. :D

For those who think its useless in greenish areas, you really need to get out and actually see it, as opposed to just assumption. :)
There was a guy in the bushes calling for medic (which was me) and after ihad healed this chap in flectarn i couldn't actually see the multicam fella, he wasn't even that well covered., I found it quite easy to spot the od/woodland types.

Was very effective in lots of areas, plus it looked gucci., :D

There was some photo's taken, but unfortunately due to us wearing multicam, you cant actually see us...

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

you know... those saying it doesnt work in all environments arent actually 'ignorant' and arent just 'assuming'... I've seen the stuff used since it first made it to the UK airsoft scene... and to be frank, I've seen it NOT work more than I have seen it work. DEPENDING on the conditions, yes, its very effective. but its not this be all and end all cam that some here seem to lord it as.

look at those photographs.... Please... because you dont seem to be getting my point...

They are all dry grass, bright sunlight, and oh gosh, the desert... I didn't say the stuff doesnt work. But for a quick example... (because I too can link to photographs on the intertubes)

    patrol0lf.jpg
Note how multicam sticks out the most?
NOT all environments are like the ones you posted Masada... You know... I'd almost have to wonder if you have stocks in Crye...

What is it with using movies to somehow prop up arguments as to the effectiveness of mulicam? You all know that movies aren't real right?

If that was the case i could go on a completely spamfest picture posting spree with every possible flavour of Woodland or Greens in the history of warfare - ever - as a bonafide means of saying how "gucci" (another word I am starting to detest) 'x' camo is. Would that win an argument? I think not.
    Multicam002-1.jpg

That is actually a terrible photo to use. The only thing in it is a) multicam and b) a strong hint of sunlight in the camera. The rest fo the photo vegetation would appear darker than multicam allows and end up more like the below picture linked by Firekitten.

I wont comment on the other photos since that's already been done.

What argument? you seem to have overlooked the context of the majority of this thread.

The majority of people who play this game build their loadouts not on effectiveness, but on imitation. ie, they see something in the movies, TV show, on the news etc and ya mimic it.

Yup, theres some sunlight in it there i agree, except, the photo your using as a negative example is also, wait for it.. In direct sunlight. ba dum tish! ;)

Realistically though, for people to take so seriously the shade of their clothing in a game where we play pew pew with toy guns, they should probably consider changing their name to Walther,.

So yep,. Multicam still am bestest, it makes me shoot further and look pretty hot too...;)

im sorry this long ago stopped being 100% about the camo :)

anyway, you pick the right tool for the job in my eyes all camo works better in some environment than it does in other fact, and you can product examples of photos to prove anything

multi cam does not work, but its not the messier of camo

a major problem i find with camo is the copys fade very fast and lose there contrast due to how there printed they also reflect light far more than the real world version, camouflage is not just down to the patten but down to the ink the material and how it is printed it all makes a massive difference, camo is just as much about shadow and light as it is about colour and pattern, a baggy garment than folds and hangs naturally for example adds massively to concealment

acu in the real work is a lot darker and does not reflect light making it a lot better in an urban environment than the copy's I've seen

most people wear what they see in movies and in books and games anyway, very few people i;ve seen go 100% practical and what works, its all about the looks and the latest in item

just some ramblings from a man on a lunch break :) and 2 cents

Yeah ive seen that, The older cheapo copys also tend to be more tanish than coyote brown and with less of a gree backing. I have a Multicam BDU at home that is almost entirely Tan bar a couple of faint patterns., :)

'people base thier loadouts on impressions and whats gucci over effectiveness'

Right... So there you admit that its not effective, Secondly, and frankly im sick of saying this, but erm, dont the hawks, (lords of the multicam dance) claim to be milsim? and 'elite'....

Surely you of all people would be more intuned with 'effectiveness' over 'apearance'

    Right?

    Right?

i think masada is making a big effort to defuse the situation with humor and to just bring an end to this rather embarrassing bickering, as its clear there is not going to be any compromise or common sense, well my reading of the situation anyway
