Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Passenger Side Window Smashed - Windscreen Cover

    Hi All,

The Passenger Side window of my faithful 98 Passat was smashed yesterday (So were 17 other cars!!! )

It shattered but did not fallout - (I put the sticky school book covering on it as a temp measure - good heh! )

    My question is -

I have Windscreen cover that states they will repair all the car windows without affecting the no claims but my concern is that if I ask the insurance to do this that my premium will be increased next year.

Should I just get autoglass or similar to do the repair.

Thanks in advance for any info - Velcrow

Just let your insurance approved repairer do it, it'll cost you nothing and won't affect future premiums.

Does windscreen cover, cover side windows?

On most policies it covers all window glass. Mine excludes glass sunroofs though, which I find a bit worrying.

It totally depends on the policy. Some cover all car glass while others may just cover the basic front and rear windscreen.

The OP needs to ring his/her insurance company to find out.

    Thanks Lads -

    I just wasn't sure.

I thought that they could pull a fast one and say that the no claims is not affected but then next year add 200 to the premium because it was vandalism while parked, and not a accidental stone from the road while driving.

Update: Fixed within 2 hours of the call
