I could but I'd prefer folding demountable windbreaks for the versatility. I will be able to take more foot length of windbreak per journey along with it having a degree of fitting the many slopes I'm blessed with.

Hi folks, has anyone here made a meal bin out of an ibc? How did you gunter the lid?

I've seen large 1200litres ibcs on donedeal which I think would be ideal for a bin. I was thinking of cutting the top off and screwing in hinges but I'm kinda struggling with how to latch the lid. Would a normal gate latch be enough to keep a tight seal on it?

    All advice appreciated.

I bought a couple of large wheelie bins off a lad beside the old mart in Mountrath. They cost me 100 a piece. They were brand new and will hold 600kgs of Meal. I lift them off on on the car trailer with the bale lifter on the loader. I find them fierce handy. Water proof and rodent proof.

Would anyone know what size the fittings are at the end of the tank (right hand side where lever valve and red hose come out), are they 1/2" standard across all 200l compressors? (Pic taken from donedeal).

Spent years climbing between pens scraping slats. Made a gate between the middle two bars using the same tubular steel. Leaving the top and bottom bar as is leaves it strong.

You're getting old like me so. Getting over gates now starts with a sigh.

We're all getting older, but I'm putting it down to possibly getting wiser, but even that is debatable

Back in December I posted a few pics of a pto generator being driven off the front wheel of a Skoda Octavia.

Well the diff gave out after about a week so the 2 front wheels were jacked up and they were left spinning away. It then ran 24/7 for 2 months solid. The clutch gave up sometime in Mid February. A suspected oil leak. Clocked up over 60k km over the 2 months.

The generator was powering 2 dehumidifiers for most of the time and maybe some small amount of heating. The plumber refused to let it power the new central heating system so they had to hire a proper 25kva diesel engine set for another month. The ESB connected the house this week . The Skoda will probably see the scrapyard now with close to 500k km on the clock.

How many miles to the gallon did you get running the jenny?🤔

A 25kva generator to run the heating system? Is it a 50kva esb supply you have now?

    That's very tidy looking A.

Here's ours getting compacted before tying the top and putting a new binbag in.

Whats the round shed top left of the pic? Looks interesting.

If you split pipe along it's length you can push it down over the sharp edge

It’s not round, it’s the gable end of an old stable with no roof, might be a camera trick making it look round as it is the corner of the lens.

Vrey good, your version does exactly the same job. I was like a fella packing wool yesterday jumping up and down on the wraps. You have a great selection of gates.

Thanks, unfortunately the travelling salesmen gates around the place are a waste of space, but they do come in handy as a deterrent when they come into the yard to try and sell me more.😉

Trying to get an old air compressor going again, it will hold pressure but is very slow to build pressure, will hardly build 50psi in 5 mins. Opened up the pump head and checked the reed valves which were fine but the gasket in the middle (the strip going down the middle of the circle) was broken, could this be the reason why its slow to build pressure? Filters are clean. The gasket is made of paper thin material, Aliexpress seems to be the only option to buy one, could I use gasket sealer instead?

You can make one any good eng supplier will have gasket paper

How are you getting on with the solar light now?

Looks to be a very strong one (in all ways) you have there.

Good so far anyway, not sure how many lumens it has. It's reasonable but I wouldn't be reading too many eartags under it.

I assume the motor is turning fast enough.

I had a capacitor fail on a small compresser and it would turn at about 10% of the speed it should .

Is there oil in the pump or did it ever run low. The uncle has a small compresser that got knocked over when it was running and h

The oil leaked out. Ran for a few minutes without oil.

Oil got topped up but compresser now would only get to 65/70psi

Bought a brand new motor as the old one wasn't working. Replaced like for like. Only mistake I made was I wired it up wrong so it was rotating the wrong way. When I took apart the head, there was oily residue up near the reed valves, I'm not sure is that caused by wrong motor direction or something else. It does seem to be a lot quieter than another compressor I looked at. For now I'm going to replace the gasket, unless some other info comes my way.

It took roughly 20 mins or more to pump a 28inch slurry tank tyre up by 15psi.

With all green waffle talked I cannot understand why an ESB connection is not on site from the start not the last thing . Generaters etc are desperate polluting

Just doing a small bit of metal work today. Jesus, it is awful to work with. It certainly isn't as forgiving as wood.
