you get a lot of use out of that generator? Whats the biggest thing it will power?

It's only 2.5 kva, so will run the sheep shears, drill, angle grinder etc. Won't run the welder, unfortunately. I think you need 5 or 6 kva to run one.

    do they give much trouble?

No, single cylinder Petter diesel. Built very heavy. Change the oil and keep the diesel clean and it should run forever.

It was working perfectly, but wouldn't start last week, after lying up for the winter.
Shyte and water in the diesel, had buggered up the injector.
Swung the bloody thing till I nearly collapsed, tried hot air in the intake manifold, tried a blow lamp in the intake manifold, all to no avail.

Brought the injector to a specialist and he rebuilt it with a new tip there and then. €28.

Have you tried an inverter welder on it Neks? Nice work on the gate.

I wouldn't let anything electronic near one of those generators.
I read or heard somewhere that the current supplied is fairly "dirty" with lots of mini voltage spikes, and would possibly fry the welders circuits.

Thanks for the comments. The spring is from a scrapped trampoline. A neighbour wanted a loan of a trailer to bring their trampoline to the dump, so I salvaged the springs.

How much do you want to diy?

Or try Cloone engineering in Templemore, do you know where they are?

If you are planning on making an adaptor to allow a David Brown loader match Euro implements, I wouldn't bother DIY.
There is a company near me (Cavan) will make it for about €300, and it's certified.
    Dowd Engineering near Kilnaleck.

I haven't used www for anything . Wondering a bit like yourself what they're like.

Use Hilco rods . Even better than The fin cord m. Green square box , 5kg? Instead of 2-5 kg . €25 in a lot of places.

Stick with the fincord, hilco or even the ezetrode glanbia stock. They'd all be better than wws rods, had a box here and they'd stop halfway down a rod momentarily, as in the arc would just break for no apparent reason!

Got a 5kg of hilcos a good while ago and there a brilliant rod, and the slag lifts of itself once your welding right with them!

I bought a mig and gas bottle of them a couple of years ago. Bought some other bits and pieces since. Never had any problems.

I bought an inverter welder off them at the start of the year. Have done a few bits and pieces with it so far, no complaints. Find it a great little welder actually! :)

I put 80mm L iron along the edge of the chequer plate. Had some Larch boards racked so a few of them went into the headboard and sides. Luckily it has 1 good tyre on each side! Was drawing out dung with it the last few days. It needs a bit more work on the sides, I'll probably make steel sides for it, crappy phone photo attached.

2"gun barrel fittings will do the job any plumbing store will havethem and if you need a long length of pipe they will be able to point you to a plumber nearby.

A few photo's of a fork I made for my Ferguson 20 a while ago. the ESB changed poles and left all the old steel in the ditch behind them, 2 or 3 months after poles were put up and no sign of them collecting the steel I got it so it only cost a cutting disc and a few rods.

I was surprised that the old Ferguson could lift a round bale of Hay and also that
the forks held. It's got plenty of use so far.
