Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you had a license before 1979,with all the categories, you were not obliged to do a test, and if you kept them over the years all you needed was a medical on renewal. That what i mean by bringing forward..........b

There's no mention of axles or wheels in the requirements for licence categories, it's only weight and passengers that matter.

    B licence: max. 8 passengers / 3500kg
    C1 licence: max. 8 passengers, 7500kg
C licence: max. 8 passengers, unlimited weight
D1 licence: 9 - 16 passengers, technically unlimited weight but usually taken to be 3500kg
D licence: over 9 passengers, unlimited weight

As far as I know campers are exempt from licence regulations here. The rules you mention are for mini buses and other commercials.
The only exceptions to the above list are works vehicles, e.g. JCB's, agricultural tractors, ride-on lawnmowers etc. These are classed as Category W, which you get automatically with a B licence. Category W vehicles have no limitations on weight in relation to licence category, and can carry as many passengers as there are seats.

The GVW is 3500Kgs there are seats for 3 people including me. Can I drive it on a B Licence.

    You certainly can!

But this van looks like a truck. It's not a truck if you look closely you can see that it is a van.
If you put a spoiler and alloys on a ford Fiester it doesn’t turn into a sports car. This is the same it’s a LT40 Van with Box Body. See attached image.

By the way the conversion is going well I will update later or tomorrow.

I'd like to read more about your van, it's very nice! Have you a thread somewhere to keep us updated?

Of course if there are more than eight passenger seats then a category D or D1 licence is required depending on the weight of the bus number of passenger seats.

BTW depending on ones age a medical is required.

It only depends on age or medical history for a B, W or A licence.
For C, C1, EC, EC1, D, D1, ED and ED1 everyone needs a medical report. Not sure about EB, don't think that needs one.
