I get the feeling there will either be a crackdown to stop this happening or this will be one of the next big scams..

Comreg advised that one of the main reasons the rule about phoning the number was introduced was to stop people "poaching attractive numbers" like 0851234567

and one would think to stop people from porting other people's numbers maliciously and running up massive bills until they are found out!

are vodafone able to say which store this was done in yet? it seems a bit suspect if they cant! are they trying to delay to a point where any cctv discs are overwritten? they could then claim it could have been a man that ported your number and not a woman as you suspect and that it was a genuine mistake.

Are there any companies that arent out to decieve and rip people off? you seem to know how dodgy any company is, enlighten us? of course they can see which store the port was submitted in, and the time it was done, and probably by what agent, so covering it up would be a be a bit pointless

Data Protection legislation applies to personal data - a telephone number is not personal data

    not true.

'A' telephone number is just that.. a number.

'Your' telephone number is personal data, as is your age or your address.
