Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi there,

I've got two streaks of rust stain on the side of my van where the residue on rust under one of the panels has dripped down the side of the van, leaving an orange stain. Just wondering what's the best thing to use to get it off, without damaging the paintwork?

    Hi Boomerang,
The rust streaks are not a major problem. Any rubbing compound or paint restorer (T-Cut) will do the job. Follow up with a good quality car wax on the area to restore some protective coating over your paintwork.
The rust streaks will reoccur of course until you carry out repair to the rusted section of bodywork. Is it surface rust and is it easily accessable ?

try using a tin of spray brake cleaner.

It's a volkswagen T2 and the rust is on the underside of one of the side panels... and out of reach. It's only a little trickle so I don't think it's a big problem, hopefully! The van went through a complete refurb a few years ago so the body is in great nick overall now, thank god. The footwells had rusted through completely, as had the panel below the front windscreen... The work was done in the nick of time!

Use superfine steel wool with water, go gently and slowly and only use pressure required, a nice wax after and like new :)

sounds a nice van Boomerang. I have T 4 myself. Might start looking for a T2 as a project for next winter.

PS. Try the T-cut followed by wax.
