Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

fiat brava 2001 failed on rear nearside swing arm bushing. there was minor wear and no play, will now cost 400 euro to replace a swing arm that my mechanic does not think needs doing at all, it is not in his interest to say this.

    is this common NCT practice?

like most fiats you dont just buy and fit bushings you have to buy the swing arm aswell, cos bushing kits are looser the wear quicker lucky to get a year out of them. fiat garage in ballymah supply and fit 400.

You could always shine up the arm, tell them in passing when you leave in the car that you get a used part from breakers and see how that goes!

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Have a look on the net and see if you can get that part cheaper. €400 for wishbones on a Fiat sounds like rip of Ireland is alive and well. Try pricing them from a Fiat dealer in Balfast.

I buy my Audi parts up North and find them considerably cheaper. Audi Allroad front pads down here are €237+VAT (believe it or not!!) and £99+VAT up North. Audi dealer in Belfast nearly fell off the chair when I told him the price down here. They are the same brakes as the old model RS6, but that doesn't justify the price.

sounds like you got a good deal on your pads, I would do pads myself but not a bushing. The labour is the the most expensive part of the quotes the chepest was €220 for labour, Cheers all the same

It will probably work as often they just raise the car and look for the new part and not bother to do the actual tests that show up the wear and movement.
You would be risking having to do a full retest and stumping up for the new part if this approach fails but I think its possibly worth a shot.
