Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm in the process of changing my current car which is a Citroen C4 1.6 110bhp HDi for one of the above.

The passat is a standard spec (alloys & a/c) with 53k on the clock...& old tax rate of 580 per yr.

The Golf is 08 standard spec (a/c) 8k on the clock... tax is 150 a yr

Golf is 3000k more expensive than the Passat,

However takin into account the Car tax it works out at €10 extra a month,

I've no kidz, and i plan on keepin this car 2-3 yrs at least...
Any suggestions which to go for...

The Passat ozes class, but the golf is practically new and only needs a set of alloys..

€3k difference in purchase price between the two will finance your road tax for a number of years. ;)

Plus you will have a bigger more comfortable car but going from a HDi to a 1.9 TDi is a step backwards imo. The HDi is a more modern and refined engine in comparision to the 1.9 TDi which has been around since the early 1990s. You should be aiming for the 2.0 TDi at least.

I changed my 06 Passat for a new golf recently and while the new golf is lovely I do miss the comfort of the Passat on the roads.
