Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Suspected Veronica Guerin Killer dead

The man widely suspected of being the shooter that murdered Veronica Guerin has died in prison
Irish criminal Patrick ‘Dutchy’ Holland has died in prison in the UK.

He was found dead in his cell at around 6am this morning and the British Prison Service said he is thought to have died of natural causes.

An investigation will now be carried out by the UK's Prisons and Probation Ombudsman, as is normal procedure.

Holland was jailed in 2008 for his part in a plot to kidnap a London businessman.

He is long suspected to have been linked to the murder of journalist Veronica Guerin, but has never been tried for the killing.

I'd like to see more of these criminals die behind bars

    Johnny Traynor...

We will never know for sure!

But should he have been convicted any more than Jonathon Gilligan?

I doubt it. Not much evidence. What about Fatpuss Bradley?

why was he in jail in the UK and not here?

He'd be too close to Jonathon Gilligan, I think was the reason.

Nah. Patrick wasn't scum. He had his problems like the rest of us but he wasn't scum. A decent enough bloke.

I'd love to know where Holland was done for the Guerin murder. He was never charged in relation to this murder but he did get done for drugs offences. The media accused him of being the trigger man but this was never proved. Anyway he is no loss as to the life he led.
